He did no such thing.
Mosley didn't asked to come to Oz to fight for a million bucks, they called him out and made the offer. The contract said the money had to be in the account before the fight took place, and Mundine's own manager said this was the regular practice and he would expect the same if Mundine had been fighting in the USA.
Trying to put this on Shane is pathetic. He trained and turned up ready to give Mundine a fight. It's not Mundine's fault either really; the promoter failed to produce the money, and so Shane left.
Look, the promoter had to borrow the 300k advance; he obviously misled Team Mosley. He had no intention of paying Mosley pre-fight, never. He didn't have the money. They were hoping the 300k would satisfy Shane into stepping into the ring, and then pay the rest of the purse with the expected revenue from the fight.
That is not what you call a guaranteed purse, especially considering the lack of interest in the fight and low ticket sales, and it's obviously a violation of their agreement.
Shane isn't a clubfighter out of nowhere, he's a Hall of Famer promoted by one of the biggest boxing promoters in the world. You can't just say "Look boys, I don't have the money I promised ya. But please go ahead and fight, and maybe we can still pay you a good portion of it."
That may work on a down-and-out clubfighter, but there's no way a competent manager would let Shane step into the ring.
