Jeff Fenech says he's the biggest loser - $460,000 out of pocket - after Shane Mosley walked away from his fight with Anthony Mundine just hours before the weigh-in.

Fenech says he put up the money in advance to get Mosley to Sydney for Wednesday's scheduled WBA light-middleweight bout because promoter Vlad Warton couldn't afford it.

But Mosley abandoned the fight, flying home on Tuesday, claiming a breach of contract after he was not paid the balance of his $1 million purse on Monday for the fight.

And Fenech, who says he didn't know Mosley was due to be paid before the fight, is heavily out of pocket.

"If I'd have known that, I wouldn't have given him - I gave him $460,000," Australian boxing great Fenech said on Tuesday morning.

Mosley knew at the start that things were not right and was going to pull out when the fight was first announced and then overnight he acted like nothing had happened and went forward and now this.

If the promoter couldnt afford to give Shane $300,000, how would he afford to give him the remaining 700K?

Sounds like they fooled Fenech into risking his money hoping Mosley would take the advance and fight without demanding the 700K before hand hoping he would "trust" them since they just gave him a non refundable 300K.

Fenech really got screwed, whats his role in this whole affair anyway?

When the fight was first announced, I was absolutely shocked that they came through with the 1million. I figured they had just been throwing Shane's name out there to get some attention; who would pay Shane a million bucks at this point? I've been watching boxing over fifteen years and have never even seen Mundine fight. He may be a draw in Oz, but it just didn't make since.

It really sucks for both guys; they put in the work. And it looks like this Fenech guy got played and had his pockets emptied as well. Just a damn shame all around.

The other question is if this fight couldn't make money in October, what makes anyone think it'll make money six weeks from now in December. Nobody here in Sydney is interested in paying to see two old guys fight and a bunch of nobodies on the undercard. The fight had disaster written all over it from day one.
