it's purely because of style... marquez is a counterpuncher.... and pacquiao can't live with a skilled counterpuncher....

in theory pacquiao should be able to handle marquez if bradley could.... but pacquiao doesn't have the jab to do that.... he's so reliant on straight left.... he's always there to be countered.

    You

and williams.... smh.... he could never live with floyds movement and speed....

First, styles make matchups; and no triangle theories, please. Otherwise i'll bring up the fact that Pac destroyed Cotto and Hatton more than Floyd did. But that would be irrelevant, wouldn't it?

You're looking at them in their worst moments. Floyd doesn't KO paul because he doesn't have the power of Martinez. And Paul really wasn't at his anymore against Lara. So Floyd would have have to keep the punisher at bay for 12 rounds. Remember, Paul destroyed Winky Wright, a great defensive boxer.

These would have been great fights. Floyd hardly "destroys" anyone which would have given Pac and Paul a chance.

ps in regards to Pac, there's a reason Floyd all of a sudden cared about taking tests and did everything to avoid the fight, while Pac also was hesitant to flight Floyd. Both KNEW that it was a toss up.

floyd's straight right hand is effective, but is not a ko punch. but we'll have to "imagine" because of the ducking, right.

tszyu nah.... no chance... just not technically skilled enough.... could never handle floyd's movement and slickness....

pacquiao.... can't handle counter punchers..... not to say he's not a great fighter....

margarito.... got outboxed by cotto.... cotto's stamina let him down... floyd has no such problems....
I agree with you on everything but Williams.

first of all Floyd doesn't have one punch KO power like martinez (thats how he won) and you don't know if lara or floyd is faster. but what we do know is lara hits harder. and Lara won against williams after that KO he suffer which was ugly ala pac KO.

I personally think williams would have beaten mayweather. specially back then

Only Pacquiao has a real chance, and Williams would give people hope for 2 rounds, I think if he fought Margarito.. it's one of those fights where one of the two will either shock the viewers with an AMAZING performance. Tsuzyu gets outboxed/stopped.

I'm not gonna argue who Floyd ducked and didn't duck, but I think the following opponents would have given him the most trouble:

Shane Mosely (135) very fast, very heavy-handed
                  Miguel Cotto (147) prime
Paul Williams (147-154) southpaw, crazy stamina, excellent chin, high output
Manny Pacquiao (147) southpaw, very fast, decent power, good stamina
De La Hoya (154) 2003 version

                  Rangy Counterpunchers:
                  Vernon Forrest (154)
                  Erislandy Lara (154) southpaw
                  Sergio Martinez (154-160) southpaw
                  Winky Whright (154) southpaw

Hard-chinned, heavy-handed, crazy stamina, high workrate pressure fighters:
                  Antonio Margarito (147)
                  Alfredo Angulo (154)

he got completely outboxed by lara..... floyd's a better boxer than lara with a much better defence... no more evidence is needed....

williams looked great in his career up to that point cos he was an action fighter, fighting guys like margarito, martinez who were exciting too....

put him in there with a shane mosley he gets his ass whooped.
