This fat-faced chump is hysterical. He sounds as if he got a blood transfusion from Ariza.. but I suppose that even the biggest bag of wind will run low eventually. Arum seems to have got him below the wish-bone...where it hurts.Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer, is fuming over the continued reports that Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) is a free agent (or about to become one). Schaefer once again stated to BoxingScene.com that Canelo is under a long-term agreement with Golden Boy. During a recent media interview in Mexico, Canelo’s manager, Eddy Reynoso, told reporters that he plans to sit down with Golden Boy in the near future to map out a “three fight plan in 2014.”
There is an ongoing legal battle that pertains to Canelo’s alleged breach of contract with All Star Boxing, run by CEO Tutico Zabala. In the legal documents, Zabala claims that Canelo was still under a valid contract with All Star Boxing when he initially signed with Golden Boy several years ago.

I notice that with all his ranting, and..as the Old Mother Riley said..."...casting nasturtiums all around him..." he didn't mention the "nitty-gritty" of his presumed rage, the case going on about the contract that Alvarez already had when he signed up with Golden Balls. They are noted for these modi operandi...of constantly stealing fighters who are already signed up to other prompters. I think that they have revolving wall-to-wall legal cases going on about a few fighters.........Comment

Next year is going to be the biggest year ever for Golden Boy.
Like Richie said, Top Rank is already a sunken ship. HBO will learn that soon enough. Embracing Arum, a promoter with dementia, was a bad move.
Golden Boy and Showtime are the future. The numbers prove it.
Deal with it.Comment

I'm glad you said Personally...Personally, I thought Bradley/Marquez was better than Mayweather/Alvarez, but most people are in to all the bells and whistles that GBP sells, so to each his own. And the non-PPV bouts on HBO are still the best televised boxing events offered in America. Schaeffer should just worry about matching Canelo, Thurman, and Quillin properly in 2014, since they all have quality opposition waiting for them in their respective divisions.Comment

So long as HBO subscribers outnumber Showtime subscribers by 6million GBP will need HBO more than HBO needs GBP.Comment

Schaefer might be really bad advice because accord to this article on ESPNdeportes Arum might know more about the case then Schaefer does.
it seems like the court case is going in All Star boxing's favor. the judge denied GBP counter claims and also allowed All Star boxing to file for punitive damages.
Felix Zabala has given the contract to the court with Canelo's signature, so it's a pretty open and shut case.
if the court upholds Canelo's original contract then his GBP contract becomes void because he was already signed to All Star Boxing.
the really funny thing is Zabala is willing to drop the suit if Canelo signs with Top Rank.
so Canelo might make a business decision and sign with Top Rank.
Think about it. if Canelo stays with GBP he'll have to pay Zabala millions in punitive damages. Another thing to consider is what big fights does GBP have for Canelo? Mayweather was their trump card but the PPV opportunities after that look pretty slim at 154 and even worse at 160.
so Canelo might save himself millions in punitive damages and Top Rank has more lucrative fights for him. Canelo vs Chavez is still a big fight in Mexico, Cotto always brings money to the table. Martinez is still lineal champ at 160, that'd be a big fight. you got GGG there too. all those fights are huge PPV fights. Lara, Quillin and Angulo just don't match up to that.
Canelo's team might just convince him that a move to Top Rank might just be in his financial interest.Comment

Why does GBP need HBO exactly? The money is the same. Showtime is going to nearly double their budget for boxing this upcoming year. GBP doesn't need HBO.
HBO needs stars, and a bunch of foreign clowns isn't going to cut it.
GGG fighting bums. Zou Shiming fighting Mexican guys from a homeless shelter. The same recycled garbage with Pacquiao, Marquez, Rios, Alvarado and Provodnislob. Arum is going to make about ten more fights recycling the hell out of these guys. Boring.
I shouldn't be too hard on HBO, they cured my illness. I used to suffer from insomnia, but I found the cure. Klitschko fights.Comment

Canelo vs. Chavez is never going to happen. Keep dreaming. Chavez the clown can't even make 170. HBO can keep the world's fattest boxer.Think about it. if Canelo stays with GBP he'll have to pay Zabala millions in punitive damages. Another thing to consider is what big fights does GBP have for Canelo? Mayweather was their trump card but the PPV opportunities after that look pretty slim at 154 and even worse at 160.

Cotto is a free agent. Martinez is a free agent after this next fight.
No one cares about GGG, only HBO, and guys who are fooled by their well-oiled hype machine.Comment
