I actually did read it and despite the Malignaggi fight not being as close as it was made out to be, he still struggled to cut off the ring. How would he have handled Vazquez at LW, how would he fare against Thurman or Bradley. I don't see how anyone can have him in their Top 5 when he hasn't shown if he can deal with a boxer, not one who is one handed/ or feather fisted. Broner has a lot to prove, especially with the opposition he's faced as well. I'm expecting him to make easy work of Maidana but even then that won't answer the questions I'm looking for.Comment

I for one am looking forward to the infinite jab, potshot, headbutt, and clinch fests we'll have the pleasure of viewing when this happens.
"Nah son, my guy landed more jabs than your guy did, easy win!"
"Nuh uh, my guy potshotted better, plus did you see all those perfectly timed clinches he landed, in combination with his 5 jab combo it was just enough to win!"Comment

Styles are adapting, the traditional methods used back in the day are outdated and obsolete. With technology rapidly advancing can you imagine what a fighter of the caliber of Floyd would've done 50 or 60 years ago? He would've frozen multiple weight classes in fear. Strength and conditioning coaches aswell as other technological advances are literally revolutionizing boxing. Every major fighter today is getting tested while they're performing at a high levels.
Old school boxing techniques are changing too, now they've been replaced by natural talent, raw skills and athleticism like Ward, Floyd, Broner etc. Fighters are adapting and embracing different stances like the philly shell. Standing in the middle of the ring and swinging like a wild man with no skill isn't whats cool anymore because fighters that do that get schooled. Look at the P4P rankings and you'll see that the top 5 fighters are undefeated, defensive, and extraordinary talented.
P4P
1.Mayweather
2.Ward
3.Bradley
4.Broner
5.Rigondeux
The man that brought this change forth is the King of boxing today. It doesnt matter how much you hate him. He's the best and it's unquestionable. He introduced testing, He single-handedly cleaned the sport, he made being defensive and using your legs cool, he's improving boxing little by little and I think that's going to be a major part of his legacy.
Where to even begin with this garbage post.......
The vast majority of the GOATS in history and today were all very good defensive fighters and understood the art of the sport. What punches to throw when, when to punch, how to move, where to move, how to stand. Floyd Mayweather isn't the best because he is the strongest, the fastest and perhaps even the fittest (arguable) it's because he is a student of the game and knows all of the things i mentioned. Knowing how to box is more important than speed and strength. They are icing. Balance is far more important that both.
Most fighters today don't even throw their punches in the correct form (turn them over), know how to cut off the ring, set things up of the jab or even to clinch when in trouble. They throw lazy and wild left hook. The part in bold is what too many fighters today actually do. They rely on their speed, strength etc and forget the art. That's why when they face a guy like Floyd they lose. It has less to do with Floyd's impressive physical attributes.Comment

And his style is old-school. But the OP likely believes that Mayweather invented the "Philly Shell".The irony of your post is that Mayweather is viewed as an old-school fighter, and even talks about being that last of his kind, in this regard. He trains like an old-school fighter, given that he sticks to the basics: roadwork, basic body-weight exercises, and typical boxing routine.Comment
