Is Oscar De La Hoya not considered a Mexican fighter?

When they say Juan is trying to be the 1st Mexican to win titles in 5 divisions...Oscar won in 6...is he not classed as Mexican??

I think Manny might look a little more Mexican than Oscar.

Oscar De La Hoya was only considered mexican when he won his fights or before the Mayweather/Pacquiao fights. Other than that Mexican fans didn't really support him( based solely on personal experiences) because he "ran" too much.

Obviously he is Mexican/ American , but I don't think anyone will classify him as a Mexican fighter because most fans didn't like his boxing style andone of his bigges moments in boxing were representing the United States.

Only when he wins. When he loses they call him "whitey".
