All the scorecards read 47-46 ( in favour of Pacquiao) until the knockout. If the round ended, meaning if Pacquiao stood up after getting knocked down, Marquez would have won the round 10-8- as a result the score card would read 55-56 in Marquez's favour.

Only way you'd have Pacquiao winning by 2 rounds is if you chose to ignore the knockdown, which would basically require you to ignore the meaningful punch of another fighter.

Why would you assume that a punch did not land?

Why are you assuming if the punch landed, but under slightly different circumstances, that it would always result in a knockdown or KO?
