According to all the reports we were reading at the time, Bellew Vs Stevenson / Cloud was a done deal for Nov 30th before Kovalev and Cleverly faced eachother. And with Bellew being the mandatory its only fair he gets his shot.

Having Stevenson and Kovalev on the same card in November certainly builds the fight though.
Be interesting to see what names come up for possible Kovalev opponents.

        Hopkins switched to playing chess.
But B-Hop still has Karo Murat on Oct 26, hasn't he?

Amen brother. These fools think Kovalev and Stevenson are the cherry picked fighters like Cloud and Pavlik. No knowledge, pure foolishness.

KOvalev is no joke. Expect him to perform.

Sounds like Sillakh is one of the names in the running, which (despite him being a quality fighter) does nothing for Kovalevs resume. Ismayl is probably better than Bellew, but dropped into LHW purgatory after a unexpected KO loss to Grachev.

I was really hoping for Alvarez specially with it being a GYM card, but as a fast rising contender I can see that Michel might not want to take the risk.

(And wtf is it with all the talent GYM has at LHW? Stevenson, Pascal, Alvarez and recent signing Beterbiev* - fantastic looking Russian World Am champ)

I really hope Kovalev doesn't drop into the risk / reward abyss which is plaguing GGGs career, you woulda thought the belt woulda made him a wanted guy, but phaps the way he got it put folk off him.

*Intrestingly Beterbiev was the guy who beat Kovalev in the Russian ams for the Beijing Olympic place. He has had his first 2 pro fights on the last 2 Stevenson undercards so it won't be a surprise if he's fighting on the 30th too - sparks might fly if he runs into Kovalev (who considered himself robbed in the Olympic trials).

Also one to watch is another top Russian am Egor Mekhontsev who just signed with TR and should debut on the Rigo under, but I ain't sure if he'll go LHW or cruiser - though the $s seem to be in LHW right now.

It was Eleider Alvarez (a Colombian)... He's also promoted by GYM. But the only has 13 fights... I doubt that they would send him to Kovalev's "slaughter house"...

After they saw what happened to the brave Cleverly, I don't see any top light heavyweights crowding for a Kovalev fight.

Stylistically there's not many similarities but Kovalev-Stevenson definitely has the feel of a Hagler-Hearns type war. Bring it on.
