Kov vs Stevenson would be a fight where both sides would want to be paid handsomely. That cannot happen without making the fight mouth watering to the Montreal fans.

Having them both fight on the same card is a big step in that direction. This is what they (GYM Promotions) are trying to do.

HBO rejected Hopkins vs. Stevenson because Showtime/GBP rejected Hopkins vs. Kovalev.

Why would HBO allow Hopkins to take the lineal title away when they didn't wanna give Kovalev his mandatory title shot (which led him to Cleverly)

Not blaming Hopkins, it was clearly Showtime and GBP.

I know right, Bellew is a terrific fighter and has come up the hard way. He will give Stevenson real problems and if this fight is a reality and if Stevenson looks forward to Kovalev, Hops, Ward and other big fights then he could be upset in front of his home crowd.

Personally, I don;t see Bellew v Stevenson happening next, no way does Stevenson risk a big money fight down the line.

Stevenson's promoter seems to be focussing on Bellew for his next defense. Maybe he's bluffing, we'll see. personally, if i was looking at a big money unification fight further down the line, I'd be trying to side step Bellew if that was at all possible.

Major lol at Bellew being a terrific fighter. Terrific fighters don't lose to Cleverly and draw with Chilemba.

And I don't call getting a title shot with no meaningful wins after scraping by domestic level opponents 'the hard way'. The best opponent Bellew beat is Chilemba, yet he's going on two title shots, one against the lineal champ. Not exactly the hard way imo.
