Wlad does so many things technically solid and for a guy that big, it is not often you see that. But it is really hard to swallow the excessive clinching. Boxing is supposed to be entertainment and this was a solid technical performance totally overshadowed by far to many clinches that could have been avoided. Not a good look.

Well lets just say Wlad needs to have a great performance in his next fight to make me forget about this atrocious performance.

So did watching the Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin fight change your opinion of Wladimirs skillset his status among the best Heavyweights of all time

I must say that I have not changed my mind I have always looked upon him as a vary large fighter with very little boxing ability and the rounds that I was able to sit through of this fight did nothing to change my mind his defense is still Vacate arms extended to keep distance or clinch he did add one tool to his arsenal of tactics not that he never leaned on a guys neck before but the extent that he took it to was ridicules. To jump on the guys neck over and over he would actually leave his feet and come down with 245lbs on guys neck over and over

so my opinion is still he punches hard and uses a good jab he does not know how to parry slip or dodge a punch he is incapable of countering a punch because he is not there to do so. I can not think of any Era in which he dominates arguably not even his own anyone who says this guy is a skilled boxer is fooling them selves because it has become more and more painfully obvious with every passing fight that he posses no boxing skill outside of his good jab
It didn't change my opinion of him but it did get me trying to determine how much his age had caught up to him. Lets not forget, most heavyweights are washed up by his age.

Lennox retired when he was a few months older than Wlad and Ali was shot and getting beaten by 6-0-1 fighters.

Wlad still has his power but his timing was way off and I don't think it was all that much to do with Povetkin's movement.

Still a huge fan. Not every boxer puts on exiting fights all the time.

It made me lose respect for him. I have always respected him for taking on all comers even though the HW division is pretty ****. But he obviously saw a threat from Povetkin and did everything in his power to nullify it with horrific tactics which he was allowed to get away with.

This is Povetkin - a fat, slow, plodding bum who doesn't even hit that hard. I thought he was tailor made for Wlad to look good against but he looked terrible.

You can't just simply say that after one woeful fight. It doesn't negate the rest of what he has managed to do including tie Ali's title fight win number.

That said, time will tell if we are in the wind down stage of Wladimir's career.

That post was a little unfair. People praise Hopkins and Ward for neutralizing a foe and have demoted Wladimir for doing it.

Not only that, Povetkin was not fat and it was obvious he posed a threat with the way he was punching and his hand speed. He's no bum with his gold medal. STop trying to down play his abilities so much. He has been #2 in the division as long as he has for a reason.
