To even think that I was anticipating this fight for a while and you get a horrible hug and lean fest.

One of the worst matches I've seen in years and those push knockdowns didn't make it any better.

A win is a win but in the end there has to be some entertainment value to it

Wlad is a fighter whose accomplishments dictate history recall him well but not fondly.

Povetkin should have just slid to the side when Wlad led with the clinch and watched as he fell on his face....

I just came in here to applaud the title. Brilliant.

Headbutt can't work against a guy who is much taller, principally because AP wouldn't be able to reach him (there's a reason he was tucked under his armpit).

Elbows up is probably the best of them, but it's very obvious (and of course illegal). AP had a very difficult task, any fighter who can't compete with Wlad's reach does.
He could've just pulled a David Haye and flopped every time Wlad grabbed him...

A lot of A's and B's for an F fight, Cliff.

Haye was deducted points for that if I recall

Now looking back it was a great tactic for Haye to conserve his energy, but Pov wud have been deducted points by the biased ref

Yes, it was the ugliest and dirtiest fight from Wlad Iīve ever seen. Mugging is the right word for it. That said, team Wlad obviously knew what to expect: this time the opponent wouldnīt stop charging forward, so instead of taking the usual step or two back Wlad would close the distance completely preventing Povetkin from throwing hard hooks at mid range. Ugly, boring and frustrating but still a winning tactics. I still have to wonder why team Povetkin didnīt seem have a plan B. Respect to Povetkin though, he never gave up.

That would have left him on the outside on the end of Klitschko's jab again when the fight restarted. It suited Haye because he wanted to be on the outside, Povetkin needed to get inside.
