Ali had an early peak, Wlad had a late Peak.. Although Ali wasn't shot when he fought Prime Foreman.. he was way past prime.

Foreman destroyed Norton and Frazier.. two fighters who gave Ali Hell. Foreman roared through the division and was a big favorite against Ali. Ali was expected to die.... and he knocked Foreman out. Ali landed a lot of combinations as well and overall fought a lot more courageously than Wlad.

Ali had to resort to some of these acts mainly due to the fact his legs was honestly shot to Hell and he was never a power puncher. Foreman was walking through Ali's combinations quite easily early on..

If Wlad had to fight Prime Foreman.. I don't think anyone will blame him for fighting the way he did...... to compare Povetkin to the Foreman Ali fought is a disgrace...........

Prime Foreman will KO Povetkin 10 out of 10 times... 100 out of 100 times and 999 out of 1000 times...
I'm sorry to say that you really don't know anything about that fight. You should read up on the few months BEFORE the fight. You should also watch the video "When They Were Kings" which was a detailed accompaniment of their visit to, and stay in Zaire.

Foreman was a pretty ****** guy in those days who was very young and very superstitious. He believed in being bewitched, and in ghosts. He heard "voices'.... Once they got to Zaire, the dictator Mobutu wouldn't let them out for any reason. They were held hostage. Mobutu was footing the big bills from his impoverished country and wanted to make sure of the PR benefits, to show his regime was benevolent, to counteract the bad publicity he'd been getting for years.... When Foreman got a cut over his eye and held the bout up for nearly 2 months Mobutu wouldn't let them move a mile. They stayed right there and sweated. They were constantly surrounded by soldiers, and they could hear lions roaring at night.

Ali really won that fight long before it actually happened. He was tremendously popular there because of his fight with the US Government, and they were in a Communist country (supposedly-really just a primitive dictatorship). Everywhere he went he was "mugging" for the crowds, who had little of fun in their lives. He'd learnt to shout "Ali Bombaye" which meant something like "Ali is great" or "Ali will win", and everywhere Foreman went, the crowd would shout this. It wore him down. When he heard that Ali had hired a witchdoctor to put a spell on him, he got his own witchdoctor whom he made go over the whole arena as well as the ring and especially under the ring, to erase the spells.

The whole thing was a tragi-comedy; a farce; and Foreman wasn't KO'ed -although he was hit, he collapsed from exhaustion. Ali didn't have the power to even KD a guy like Foreman.

I may have a few errors but my memory of that event is fairly accurate.

This was a great read, thank you. I didn't know Foreman was so superstitious.

Wlad fans are desperate. Not all of them just the trolls that need to bring up Ali and Louis constantly to convince us Wlad isn't that bad. Look we get it, Wlad is the best if this era. But every time you guys try to make comparisons to the greats you remind us that this era is bad. Very bad. Especially when a guy like Povetkin are the best guy on your resume.

Which equates to less then 7 clinces a round! Wlad didn't fight once on the inside, he held everytime Povetkin got it, Ali fought on the inside and clintched when he was actually tired. Why is it that Wlad didn't go into the clinch when Povetkin was hurt? Ali did hold Georges head down, but better then cracking a guy with your forearms and elbows and putting 240 lbs on pressure on someones neck. Dirt bag

Oh and btw, please watch the fight again and count how many punches that Ali threw compared to Wlad and then break down how many of those punches wearn't jabs. I don't even think Wlad threw a right hook the entire fight, unless hitting with the forearms and elbows count. Ali actually had the right to clinch because he was tired from throwing all those punches, not to mention the humidity levels in Zaire. Surely Wlad isn't so unfit that he get's tired from jabbing?

I can't believe I was starting to think this guy is a great fighter and that he may be better then Vitali. Damn

Its a Heavyweight fight... Expect clinches, these guys can't keep going forever like that...

But Wlad... I'm fan, but that was excessive and ugly

So what we're trying to say is, Wlad is willing to sit on the ropes and be attacked by the smaller Povetkin with his rope-a-dope right?

Ali was screaming to George, "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT? I'M DISAPPOINTED IN YOU GEORGE!"

Wlad was in there trying to get off his scoop slam to land his knee drop.
