Does a "Roach Trained" Cotto Defeat Austin Trout?

I'd like to see Miguel avenge that loss. Would the fight turn out different now that Miguel is working with Freddie Roach?

Miguel looked amazing tonight. But lets not forget who he was fighting. He showed no respect to Delvin. Can he do the same to Trout in a rematch?

Would be a close fight but I think Cotto could edge a rematch with bodywork and more activity. It won't happen though its too risky with the big fights available now.

Great question. I think a more aggressive Miguel would've made the fight more competitive. Given Trouts chin history, I think it would've been possible for Cotto to punish Trouts body long enough to slow him down, continue to pressure and corner him, and possible get a late stoppage.

The Trout fight was already close. If Cotto had worked the body and been more aggressive he likely would have won.

Cotto would have won that fight easily, but he just gassed out.

It's possible Cotto wasn't as prepared as he could have been for the fight for a number of reasons. I don't really remember him looking that way though. I just think it was a mixture of things, Trout being a taller southpaw being one of those things. I'm also on record of thinking Trout it a pretty good all around fighter who only really lacks world class power.

I thought Cotto worked Floyd's body pretty well (about as well as you can against Floyd), but he had been getting away from that punch for a while. If Roach can really get him to go back to that punch it will be interesting.

Will it really matter against guys like Canelo and Martinez though? I'm not really sure. Like Roach said if you try to box off the ropes like that it's only a matter or time before Cotto gets to you. That is true for any fighter through 154 except for Floyd and Sergio I think. I'd like to see Miguel go back down to 147 and fight guys like Broner and Garcia. I think he can beat both.

              Trout is average.

Miguel fought ****** and also tired. A body attacking Cotto with good pressure breaks Trout, being back in top shape last night also helped.

Absolutely, it's actually embarrassing that Cotto lost to Trout in the first place

why don't you think it will happen? The only big fight available for Cotto right now Canelo and that probably won't happen because of the HBO/TR and GBP/Show beef. Trout is the only other "name" opponent available for Cotto and if El Ange lwantst o be taken seriously again, he has to avenge that loss.

Back on topic, this is a fight that needs to happen, Trout won a very, VERY close first fight and we just don't know how much of a confidence knock the Canelo fight was for Trout. These are two men on very different paths, the rematch really sells itself.

Having said that, I didn't see anything different in this version of Cotto compared to what I've been watching for more than a decade. He went to the body more than he had done recently but his last two fights were against guys who are very difficult to pin down and get your shots off. Cotto definitely seemed to be in better shape than last time, less flab, more tone but if Trout fights behind his jab and continues to work Cotto on the move, I reckon Trout gets another close decision, unless Cotto can land a big shot.

He would have lost easier. Gassed by the 4/5th round, Roach doesn't change anything, Cotto would look great under any trainer when fighting low level competition. People need to watch more boxing lol.
