Canelo is going to tear the frame off of Cotto if they fight.

If I am GB and I know Cotto isn't in contract, but on a fight by fight basis with TR, and he wants me to negotiate with TR, I would tell Cotto to go fight someone else that is not a GB fighter. WHY is Cotto asking for this? Seriously, whether its vice versa, on companies, doesn't make sense IF you ARE a FREE AGENT.

Cotto was not 'asking for this'. My understanding is that the Maravilla fight is pretty much a lock-in, but Cotto's too wise in the game to slam the door in GBPs face at a presser. It's called diplomacy - he's saying 'you want the fight, talk to my guy' - it's a brush off without looking like one.

Maravilla's is looking for a couple of good paydays to retire on. Cotto's in the same boat, but with GBP/SHO wasn't getting a look in. Hints of a Cotto fight have been coming outta the Maravilla camp for a few months but I guess Cotto needed to wait until he had a solid win behind him.
