Lennox Lewis thinks he's the greatest h2h fighter.. as well.

So did Larry Holmes.. nobody says they can't think like that.. except it's always annoying when they are rude and bashes other ATG'S.

In the instance of Floyd.. it was especially annoying because him bringing up the Spinks fight is ******ed.... as well as mocking Ali's rope a dope.

The point is that he was extremely disrespectful on top of delusional......

There is a difference between saying

' I am greater than Ali'

    and

'I am greater than Ali oh and btw he lost to Spinks.. how can he be great? What's so cool about him getting beat up against the ropes? He lost to Norton 3 times...............(even though he didn't)

I do respect Floyd for knowing the difference between Leon Spinks and ATG LHW Michael Spinks.. (I'm sure most of his fan boys don't)

Still it is just another exhibit in why no one should really care what he has to say, because he will say whatever to get whatever effect he wants.

The fact it was three years ago matters because this was right before the Mosley fight so Floyd was trying to sell that fight and saying something like that which is very controversial is something that draws attention. Also keep in mind how he was getting treated at that point that was the start of the Manny saga so he was already taking heat and was the bad guy to a bunch of people so this was just another brick in the wall and you could say at that point go big or go home because nothing he said would change perceptions at that point.

If he said it yesterday with no real reason to say it or anything to sell, it would be a bit different.
Fair points. Yet i believe if he was asked the same questions today, his opinions would be the same.
I dont think he was trying to sell the fight, or be controversial. I believe that was just Floyd being Floyd.
And he is always the bad guy. Mainly because of interviews like this.

True it really is Floyd being Floyd but he can be much more gracious than that and I think if asked that same exact question at this moment he would handle it a bit differently. He would still obviously favor himself but I think there would be a lot more grace in his answer, although that kind of depends on the interview also if he is being pushed in a way he didn't like he probably would do about the same thing but in this specific interview he just kind of offered that up

He is always the bad guy especially to some but he was probably at his lowest ebb for being disliked at that moment and Floyd is smart when it comes to selling fight so going after Ali on ESPN to me is selling the fight.

Who knows I guess but it is easy to see why people don't like it.

Floyd is not ******, that's the Money persona.. Floyd knows Ali is one of the GOATs.. don't be an idiot. Floyd knows what it takes to become a champion and a hell of a fighter. Floyd is playing the bad guy here, don't fall for the bait.

I find it funny that people can recognise how audacious it is for someone who has accomplished less to make short of someone who has accomplished more; when as arm chair fans those same people will go on to disrespect fighters in a manner that is worse than anything to come out of Floyd's mouth. ( By the way I'm not particularly bothered by either).

Disagree with Floyd's assessment but he has his right to an opinion.

I dont believe he is acting here at all. Because every time i have seen anyone come close to disagreeing with him or criticising him in anyway he reacts in the same defensive agitated way.
He seemed extremely calm and wanted to come across as cool and professional, but couldnt hide that ego.

Like i said above, although he is smart when it comes to selling, in this case he showed yet again how easily he can be wound up.

Im not trying to just criticise Floyd here, but cant help but be fascinated by his character and temperament. So cool and intelligent in the ring, and so the often the opposite outside of it.

I don't think you are being overly critical or anything like that. That is true though on how he is so different inside and out of the ring, a lot of his issues probably stem from that he might even know what he wants to do/say but just can't execute it like he wants. That is probably very frustrating for someone that worked their craft to such a fine point

That is true he can easily be wound up, but I don't think in that interview Rome was going hard on him to react like that so I think in a similar situation that he probably wouldn't do that same thing at this point in time, at fight selling time it could be different. Now you are certainly right if he gets wound up all bets are off on what he will say, most likely some crazy gibberish that only vaguely answers the question posed.

do you think Floyd's like that because of his Dad giving him a ****ty childhood?

Also I know for a fact Floyd's Dad called Leonard a '****sexual'.
I don't think that sits too well with Floyd.
