Gamboa co-headlined vs Estrada.

The issue with Cuban fighters not getting more exposure lies elsewhere and it's not their color.

That wasn't a bad turnout at all for the guys mentioned. It's not like Breidis was a huge draw. Gamboa was still fairly new and Lara was only into his fourth fight.

Crowds were really nice and lively, you could hear "Cuba!" shouts and arenas seemed to be full. Wouldn't guy like Rigondeaux be able to sell well there? Or isn't it at least be worth a try?
I doubt it, only purist of the sport like watching Rigo fight. You can appreciate his skill much more on TV.
When seeing him live whilst drinking and have a good night out, he will stink the joint out for the casual fans and 95% of people in the arena.

With a pretty sizable Cuban-American population on the east coast, you'd think a promoter would be able to milk that like they do with Puerto Rican fighters in NYC. I realize its 2mil Cubans vs 5mil Ricans, but that's not a bad number. Arum has been able to market to the 3mil Filipino-Americans really effectively.
It's a silly argument that people want to believe. Cuban fighters will and have drawn their fans especially in a highly congested 'cubano' area as Miami.
IMO, promoters are more concerned with the styles that will please the casual boxing fan masses, such as the Mexican fighters offense first mentality. Hence old dogs such as Arum won't move operations to S.Fla.

if the dude can get an arena in florida and knock out some c+ fighters in spectacular fashion, then he'd develop a following.
i think any latin fighter can develop a following as long as they knock ppl out. miguel vazquez is mexican but the dude doesnt have a following.

They should have done that a few years ago.
Get him to fight every month, against some bums and build up an impressive record and following.
