  • I pull for Chavez JR, he proved his gameness in the Martinez fight

    but

    He lost this fight

I said that Canelo would have to KO JR to win

in Retrospect Vera had to KO Chavez to Win

If anything kills boxing for me its bad judging

Lampley said it best and he said it so fast I can't Quote him but he said the guy with the name and MONEY will get the decision

This is ONE reason I love KO's

      its ridiculous at the moment.

rios getting the win against abril

bradley getting the win against pacquiao

williams getting the win against lara

martin murray not being credited with knock downs against martinez

ricky burns controversial draw with beltran

CJ ross 114-114!! WTF was that ****?!

thats just a few of the top of my head. its sad times or boxing at the moment.

will there ever be a day when we can say boxing is 100% clean?

          Sad times.
It was effective work rate so much that I gave Vera 8 out of the 10 rounds. But it won't matter because when Junior steps up to fight anything that resembles an elite 175 pounder he will get stopped. And no one will have to listen to the ridiculous scores.

            Good boy.

Sorry lad, but the scoring criteria is not based on landing more punches - there is a difference between how a bout is scored in the professional game and how it's scored in the amateur game.

Merely pointing out the official scoring criteria - effective aggression, defense, ring generalship and clean, effective punching (you know hat that is, don't you?) - doesn't make you a hipster, just a boxing fan.

I agree. Who would you rather be at the end of the round? The guy who was hit with about 15 lighter punches or the guy who was hit with a sledgehammer about 10 times?

I actually didnt have an issue with the result of the fight (though I thought it was a bit wide I had it close could have gone either way). The thing is Chavez's shots were just dramatically harder and cleaner and was landing basically when he wanted to. I'm not sure if people get the work rate goggles on (as in they get blinded by it) but it really looked like Chavez was taking it easy and toying with him at times (make that through out the fight). Ward even mentioned it early on how much more relaxed Chavez is and how Vera is giving him nothing he hasnt seen.

True, Vera threw a lot more punches and landed more... But at what point do you say "okay he might be outlanding him but the other guy is doing more damage and doesnt have to bother missing 50 shots a round"

Quality over quantity (in this case) and in some cases it is reversed its different for every fight. Again it was close and even if I leaned towards Vera eeking out a round or two more the rounds were a toss up in the regards to quantity of quality. I cant really be mad at this decision and I feel many just hate JR and wont acknowledge the reasoning. For me this was nowhere near Rios-Abril or Cj Ross or Benoit in P Will vs Martinez. It was a toss up for me

He landed more, and he landed hard early, but Junior landed hard the entire fight. And he hurt wobbled Vera on more than one occasion. Junior was only visibly hurt by a butt from Vera.

One guy can throw 10 and land 6, but if the other guy throws 10 and lands 4, but all 4 are hard shots, the crowd and the judge more than likely give that round to the guy who did more damage with his 4 hard shots. This isn't the Olympics where you land more you win.
So you started by saying landing 50% of you power shots means everything, and then go on to give me an example where the person who lands a lower percentage wins.

Im not saying hard shots dont count and im not saying that just outlanding wins you fights like in the amateurs. Im saying looking at percentage landed when output was so low is meaningless.. Thats a good stat when the guys throw roughly the same amount of punches because you can see who was more effect with their similar amount of work. When one guy is doing half punching and also landing signifcantly less then his one big shot should equalize everything. And i dont care if you SAW Vera outland him by 70 shots (obviously the blind judges didn't see it either), bc that number is directly from compubox. You can say Jr's hard shots outweigh Vera's work bc that is your opinion but to say Vera didnt press the action is just blatantly false

YOU thought Vera won. The announcers felt Vera won. The crowd felt Vera won. Therefore Chavez winning is a robbery - end of story......

                  • If Vera was hitting Junior with such pity pat punches why was his head snapping back and why was he obviously hurt and why was his face busted up?
