It wasn't 114-114, that's one of the worst judging cards ever. But it wasn't the great or as Skysports resident ****, Adam SMith put it, a "virtuoso" performance. Floyd popped a few punches at Canelo and Canelo popped a few punches at Floyd.
Floyd ran the whole of round 12. He took off rounds 8-10, 2 of which I gave to Canelo, 2 of the 3 rounds I had Canelo winning.
As another poster put it, it was a glorified fencing match. Floyd looks a good boxer against average opponents or smaller guys but under pressure he seems decent enough to win but not do anything special with his abilities, look to the Oscar, Cotto and Castillo fights for what I mean.
Truly great fighters worthy of the highest accolades have their best game against their best opponents, Pacquiao obliterating Ledwabo and Barrera and Cotto and Oscar and some others. Marquez stopping Pacquiao or putting on a boxing clinic in the 3rd fight, Barrera and Morales against each other, Ali against Liston/Frazier/Foreman/Patterson/Williams, Robinson in rematches with Turpin, Basilio, LaMotta, Leonard in fights with Hearns/Hagler/Duran/Benitez.
Floyd has had some of his worst performances against his best opponents. Floyd is a terrific fighter but he isn't the great who should be mentioned in the same breath as the others...especially since he couldn't even stop a kid who fights for only 5 rounds max.
^^Exactly everybody be kissin' Floyd's booty right now but he be tagging mofos with pillows and runnin'. A lot of his punches were blocked too. Canelo wasn't hurt at all and was hardly marked.

This post does not belong in this thread I sincerely wish you would take the time and post this, even start a thread with this, in the history section. Your point is an excellent one...it has nothing to do with Floyd's thrashing of Cannelo (you can see just from some of the Gifs here that Floyd's punches landed) but has a lot to do with how Floyd should be compared to fighters who are at the elite level...
Was Pacquio in fact Floyd's Waterloo? We all know pac lost money but perhaps Floyd lost a lot more if we take your point to a natural conclusion.

I need to watch the fight again. But i am more and more impressed with Floyd.
I cant believe he is being criticised for not beating up Canelo and stopping him. Before the fight, no one believed he could hurt Canelo, and it would be a tough fight. Yet Floyd was hardly touched, and started out as the aggressor.
A blistering attacking style and destruction of an opponent doesnt necessarily make a fighter great. Sometimes its gets fighters hurt, damaged or KTFO.
What floyd does is great. His style isnt about attack. its about ring smarts, precision, focus and adaptability.
I feel just because his style lacks drama, his skills are under appreciated.
The other fighters you mentioned didnt have the same mentality Floyd has. To be smart, and simply out box opponents. Not giving them a chance to score anything clean. They all wanted to go to war and destroy their opponents. Which lead to drama, and them taking punishment. Floyd can dominate without doing that. im not suggesting he is better, but different, and that its not to his detriment as a fighter.
99.9% of all Boxers and Trainers repeatedly state that Floyd is the Best Boxer around !
I'll stick with the Boxers and Trainers who actually know what they are talking about !
The Opinions of the Jealous Keyboard Cowards who couldn't hang for a sec in the ring mean nothing !
