    Clip: Gatti stops Thomas Damgaard

In front of the usual crowd of Gatti fans in Atlantic City New Jersey, Arutro Gatti won his first Welterweight fight in a cautious and rather uneventfull stoppage over the little known Thomas Damgaard.

I'm a Gatti fan myself, but one who's never had any illusions about who he is as a fighter. He's a Mickey Ward / Omar Sheika type who's all blood and guts. While he cleary isn't (and won't be) a serious contender, he's all heart and I always enjoy watching him. He was clearly over cautious and Damgaard proved to be strong and durable (although clearly inexperienced). Gatti was always moving, and picked his shots. He clearly hurt his hand at some point in the mid rounds, and fought south paw in many instances. Thomas Damgaard would back Gatti to the ropes, and Gatti fought well there. He won just about every round, and in the 11th, Damgaard (who clearly isn't used to being in a fight that late) lost his legs two thirds of the way through the round after some solid blows from Gatti. One good shot was all it took to turn his legs to jelly, and the crowd in Jersey got what they came for.

Gatti mentioned he hopes to fight Judah-upsetter Carlos Baldomir in his next fight.

I was capping the fight live, and making a gif takes me about 90 seconds.

Thomas looks like he wants to cry with his face so beaten. Poor guy, first fight in the US and he loses.

                  Thanks Bozo!

Don't know Damgaard 'cept for what has been recently written about him and the record posted, pre-fight.
Am a Gatti fan though. The Ward trilogy...!

                  Thanks again!

What's funny is that if Gatti can beat Baldomir, and Mayweahter beats Zab as most think he will, Gatti will be the Welterweight Champion with Mayweather, a guy who took him apart, ranked just below him.

                    Gotta love boxing.
