Was the right strategy to take against Matthysse though and it worked. If Weeks had just warned him, he would have watched for it and not done it as much.
Floyd does it all the time and nobody says anything. No warnings at all, ever. Thats just smart boxing IMO.

It's smart boxing to a point, once you do it past that point, it becomes a rules infraction.

I don't think he came even close to bieng past that point. **** Devon did it all night vs Maidana and while it was annoying a warning or a deduction wouldn't have been warranted. When you come in like a billy goat winging wild shots you can expect to be clinched... If Garcia takes a step back he probably gets clipped on some of those shots but a simple step forward and a clinch neutralized a lot of what Mathysse was trying to do. You said it yourself "Mathysse smothered himself" at times.

I do not like Garcia or his limited ability I never will! The fight is 114-112 without the ref calling the legitimate lowblows. Lucas won 6 rounds solid with the kd. **** Garcia, **** his ilk! **** Garcia's fans, and **** Broners fans. The Garcias and Broners of the world are destroying boxing.
Damn man..... I can't believe what I'm reading. Just take the L like Matthysse did.

Boxing is supposed to be a man Sport but all People in and out of the Sport do is cry like B!tc#es. Dude lost and if he was that good or better than Danny then he would have beaten Garcia no matter what Danny tried to do. ALSO I remember all of Matthysse's fans saying how underrated of a boxer he was but he could not out box Garcia who was considered to not be a great boxer. Matthysse lost and no matter how much b!tc#ing and moaning continues. Dude still got the L on his record and is not the top dawg at 140 like so many believed him to be before the fight. Realistically he never was but Hype made him out to be.

It's his team too. I wouldn't be suprised if Lucas didnt feel the same way, of course he would never utter those words in public himself. Birds of a feather. SWIFT SMOKED THAT ASS THOUGH .. so all is well.
Matthysse had his chance to complain after the fight, he didn't.

Garcia won a close fight, he deserved to win imo. However, the refereeing was weak(s)

So tell me how, could the referree help Matthysse from getting punched in his face for 12 rds? How could the referree help Matthysse to box and find ways to neutralize Garcia from doing what he was doing? The Referee excuses are just as lame as the low blow excuses. Dude got beat. Ain't like Matthysse could not do his thing as well. Salty Posters. Low blows didn't take away the fight from Matthysse he fought hard and valiantly but it just wasn't enough. Prior to the fight. Garcia didn't stand a chance according to many inside and out of the sport. I knew and am glad Garcia beat Matthysse because now People can actually think about analyzing before making predictions based on a guy being the favorite because he can score a KO.

Didn't I say that? Garcia won, he deserved to win.

But you're a boxing fan, you know when the referee doesn't do a good job. Weeks didn't, he let Matthysse away with stuff too as other posters have pointed out. Weeks was weak.

If there is a rematch and there probably won't be, it should go to a more stringent ref like Pabon or Bayless.

Smoger likes a brawl, he would be good for any fight like this.

I'm guessing that being a Referee is a tough Job that sometimes things happen so fast that it's hard to control. With that said. A Person can always do their Job better but I remember reading how Matthysse wasn't going to leave it to the judges let alone the referree. Low blows didn't cost Matthysse the fight but rather he did because Garcia was better. I can see and predict a rematch being easier for Garcia. Matthysse needs to rebuild by getting some titles and good wins under his belt. He should focus on making his own way at 140 without bothering with a rematch because another L from Garcia immediately would be devastating to his career.
