I'm by no means an Amir Khan fan and I'm very aware of his limitations as a fighter. That said, he has a pretty good skill set and is an above average offensive fighter. And I do feel that he gets a bad rap and is underrated as a fighter. Some of it is because fans don't like chinny fighters. And his arrogant attitude along with his weak beard make him very hard to root for. But IMO he's a very good fighter capable of giving any fighter at 147 or lower a tough time, at least for a couple rounds.

I walked away feeling Khan was a better fighter than Danny. And I walked away feeling Danny was clearly a better fighter than Lucas. I wouldn't pick either to beat Danny in a rematch. I don't agree or understand your outlook on this but to each it's on. Matthysse showed he has more grit against Garcia. He took some big shots, got his face broken and still tried to go all out. Khan got punch with a big left hook half on his neck and ear and dude was shaken up like salt and pepper shakers. How many left hooks did Matthysse eat? Danny is better than both them guys and you know why I think this? Because he beat both without any controversies. Dropped and TKO'd Khan and broke Matthysse face and dropped him for the first time in his career. Khan is not better than Danny Garcia and who knows if he could even last against Matthysse.

The only reason why I have no faith in Khan is that he only fights one way. He tries to use his speed all of the time. That is good, but there is always a way to neutralize speed, and that's pressure and patience. Khan has a good jab, but he never relies on it.

What I mean by that is there comes a time where your speed will be neutralized. Danny knew he couldn't outbox Khan so he pressured Khan even without punching looking for the perfect counter, and he succeeded. He doesn't examine the damage that he's caused. Everything is hype, hyper, hyper. Not flat footedness when needed to sit behond a jab. You can't fight like that for 12 rounds. Punch, punch, clinch or push your head down.

Roach used to have to tell him to slow down and relax He just continues to fight the same way, and in boxing against a guy like Danny, you won't beat him by throwing 100 punches a round. He needs to jab more if he wants to last in this sport. More jabs, more feints. He has the tools to beat Danny, but he doesn't have the smarts to beat Danny.

"He was pressing to win that fight especially after his eye got closed" Bernard Hopkins

I've read several threads that people say if Lucas eye didn't close it would have been different but what Hopkins says here is the way I saw it to.

Danny started to figure Lucas out and was taking control regardless of the eye. If anything Lucas became a little more dangerous after his eye started swelling even landing some of his best punches on Danny. Many of us here on boxingscene know this and that's why we're so impressed with Danny.
