Ward is going to dominate Rodriguez, but it's a good opponent, especially off such a long lay-off.

Great to see Ward back in action. See if the long layoff comes into play, but I see him beating Rodriquez by UD.

Manny is not as good as Floyd in my estimation and hasn't even shown he's willing to fight guys the size of MWs before. Pacquiao also just got knocked out by a WW. What espn article are you referring to in particular? Quillin and GGG should fight. I can see why he's frustrated, although I think it has more to do with the HBO/Showtime/GB dispute than it does with Quillin's unwillingness per se (although Quillin has also claimed there's no money in that fight, so who knows).

In any case, I can't entirely knock GGG for what his promoter has said (again I'd like to see the article) since he should be trying to get Golovkin high-profile/lucrative fights. That's essentially his job.

I think he has the potential to eventually be a major player in the division.

But Andre Ward is the absolute worst matchup for him at this point in time. He'd have been better off trying to get Stieglitz or Oosthuizen, he'd have a real shot of beating those two.

              Google

Tom Loeffler Floyd Mayweather, it will come right up in news.

The thing is Golovkin has a habit of fighting 154 pounders, he is 31 and has 3 fights vs career 160 pounders. His people need to focus on that not welters.

Well, top MWs like N'Jikam, Martinez, Sturm, and Barker (he deserves some time though since he just became champ) haven't exactly given him the chance. It's more like they are avoiding him from what I've heard.

I hardly see what is wrong with what Loeffler said:

"Gennady would fight Floyd at 154 pounds," Golovkin's promoter, K2's Tom Loeffler, told ESPNNewYork.com on Sunday morning. "Whether it's doable is another story."

Mayweather does business with Showtime and Golden Boy, and Golovkin is an HBO fighter -- HBO doesn't buy fights from Golden Boy now, so to get all those en****** on the same page would be a task. "Gennady's trainer Abel Sanchez says that Gennady is the only guy who can beat Floyd at 154," said Loeffler. "I don't want to give the wrong impression, I think Floyd has proven over and over that he is the best pound for pound fighter in the world today. But Floyd would clearly be the most compelling fight for Gennady out there. Golovkin is, though, completely focused on Curtis Stevens."

I really just see him doing his job in this instance.

Ward might get sparked out in this fight....it might all come to a screeching halt. There is a reason they approved Rodriguez.

I don't like it, if Thurman called out Crawford people would freak out and insult him, if you are a middleweight stick to middleweight because look at how the Golovkin fans act.

Crawford (I like his potential) simply is not the P4P #1 nor the biggest draw (not even close) in boxing, so it would be fairly strange if Thurman did this when he is actually getting a lot of good/decent fights at WW. Also, has Thurman offered to go down to 140 (he's a big WW as it is) at any point?

In any case, Golovkin will likely move up soon if fights with guys like Quillin, Martinez, or even Murray at MW don't materialize. I can't really fault Golovkin and/or his team for throwing him into the mix to fight Floyd though. He and his team should be looking for lucrative fights.
