I saw it on a theater big screen for $18 bucks and enjoyed the crowd and the energy and every bit of it, minus the Smith/Molina fight. Floyd was masterful.

There is not a fight in Boxing right now that would do 2 Million PPV buys without Mayweather in the fight.

Canelo could do a PPV with anyone else on the planet and it's not coming close to 2 Million perhaps not even 1 Million other than Pacquaio, Chavez or Cotto or someone like that. It's still not coming close to 2 Million without Mayweather.

Mayweather was Oscar De La Hoya's highest grossing fight.

He's Cotto's highest grossing fight and will be until he retires.

He will be Canelo's highest grossing fight.

it was almost pathetic watching them parade around the MGM with their Saul head bands on, actually believing Canelo was gonna beat Floyd..I thought to myself "this poor little country is in for a rude awakening when the bell rings"..sure enough, as the rounds went on..no more cheers of "CAH-NEL-O"..just dumb silence, as they stared at their countrymen!

Even a PPv star like De la hoya made his most money fighting Floyd.
De la hoya didn't make nowhere near the same money fighting Pacquiao.

If you want to sell 2 million PPV.......Then Floyd Mayweather has to be involved.

Danny vs Lucas played a huge part in these numbers too. If that fight wasn't on the card, they don't break 2 million buys. I personally know of a couple house holds that bought the PPV just for that fight.

and a couple is all..lets be real, no casuals ordered the fight for them, Lucas-Swift was mostly for us boxing fans..and sadly, majority folks on this forum streamed it..it had minimal bearing on these #s

If Canelo was the A-side, Ellerbe was right. He has to most incompetent, idioitic management in sports. As the A-side and defending champ, he was on the B-side of the fight poster and entered the ring first. As the A-side and defending champ, he agreed to a catchweight. And most importantly, as the A-side, agreed to basically agreed to a relatively low guarantee with very lil to none of the PPV kickback. Very rarely do I agree with anything Ellerbe says. But if Canelo was indeed the A-side as you say. He needs to fire his entire team immediately.

It's like the fight with Oscar. Mayweather and Oscar could not draw that much on their own, so they came together and made the it happen with the biggest PPV #'s in history. Canelo and Floyd did the same. Neither was pulling in that much solo. They did it together. People were intrigued to see the fight and payed. Both men are credited for the success of the fight.
