I actually had Matthysse vs Judah/Alexander the same or wider than Matthysse vs Garcia in favour of Matthysse and according to some of you they were close enough to justify Matthysse losing the fight.

A rematch down the line is entirely justifiable imo

Weeks told Garcia a couple of times during the fight to watch the low blows, but he never formally told Danny he was going to deduct a point the next time he fouled. The normal procedure is to issue a warning after two or three blatant low blows, then take a point on the third or fourth. In the final round, after about a dozen or so low blows, Weeks finally took a point. It's not like Garcia landed a few stray shots on the belt-line. He went south quite a few times; and several were right on target, if you know what I mean. I would've hated to see the fight end on a DQ; but now that you mention it, I've seen guys get disqualified for landing far less low blows than Garcia dished out.

I think a lot of that was Garcia trying to go to Matthysse body and take the steam out of him but ended up hitting him on the nuts. Matthysse holding his head down didn't help none either. Can't see one thing without the other. Well you can see whatever you want but fact is and still remains that Garcia put a hurting on Matthysse.

Danny fought a great fight, but back to our point: There was one time early in the bout where Matthysse pushed Garcia's head down and Danny landed one square. Weeks rightly pointed this out to both fighters. I don't recall seeing another instance of the same scenario occurring. Certainly the low blow that cost Garcia the point wasn't caused by what you're describing. I agree that Danny was probably just trying to work the body most of the time; but a foul is a foul, intentional or not. You do it often enough, the ref has to penalize you. Weeks took a good, long time to finally step in.

Right there with you. I don't have a problem with Danny getting the 'W', although hearing guys going on and on about Garcia 'ruining' him and dominating is hilarious. Matthysse dished out a lot of punishment of his own and they were both swinging for the fences at the final bell. Garcia won the fight when he closed the eye, and credit to him for that, but Lucas kept coming, and a rematch is completely warranted down the road. I think Garcia should try and get a big payday next if he can though. I definitely feel he has earned it.
