Angel Garcia Trainer of the Year?

Nacho has to guide Marquez past Bradley still. That's no easy task. Nacho has been around forever. But if there was a trainer that has gotten the most out of one fighter this year I like what Angel has done with Danny. I like what Nacho did against Mares too but he wasn't exactly the murderous puncher Matthysse is. It was Johnny with the early KO threat that he capitalized on. Mares wants to get that rematch in before year end.Comment

I don't think he's holding Danny back at all I think the opposite. Angel talks so much trash but most of its the truth and that pisses people off and people tune in to watch him lose. If Danny didn't have Angel he'd probably be more like Tim Bradley as far as popularity a good fighter with no fans.Comment

i think its a good combo. danny does his talking in the ring and its actually an entertaining style he has. angel makes the press conferences must see IMO. Angel does pick up on little things in the ring people make him out to be a joke sometimes but he knows what he's doing.I don't think he's holding Danny back at all I think the opposite. It was 10 months ago from September 2013 yes but the year's not completed in September is it
Obviously the awards regarding the year 2013 are for the fights that happened between Jan 2013-Dec 2013.
Angel deserves it. Angel even plays a role in the ring when he get's in the fighters heads.
Beating Matthysse wasn't a bigger upset than knocking out Mares in 1 roundComment

I concur with this, and I really don't see how anybody could argue the point.
Mares was widely favored going into that fight and had been on a legitimate P4P tear. Gonzalez made quick work of him with a KO in the first and Mares has since been reduced to a punchline, unfairly or not.
Ignacio Beristáin continues to prove that he's on another level when it comes to boxing trainers. He's the greatest trainer of all time, IMO.Comment

I know you have a deep appreciation for Angel and his antics, but you're joking, right?Comment
