Boxing needs to modernize. Among other things, minimize judgement calls by crediting a point for each knockdown and nothing else. Like hockey, it doesn't matter how much you out-shoot the other team; if you don't put the puck in the net, it's still a 0-0 tie. That is, if you rely only on stick 'n' jab all night, you'll never earn a victory.
First fighter to knock out the other, or score three knock downs, is the winner. If the fight goes the distance, tally the knockdowns. No corrupt/incompetent judges necessary. Just look at the electronic scoreboard above the ring.
When there's a controversial call by the referee (missed knockdown, knockdown was a trip, etc), three ringside officials can immediately order a time-out and REVIEW INSTANT REPLAY to overrule the third man in the ring. Leverage technology like other sports and fix things on the spot.
The risk here is that boxing matches might turn into slugfests because now there's an incentive to actually favor offense. Or a fighter who scores an early knockdown might get on his bicycle for the remainder of the bout. But these things can be mitigated with rule changes.
Anyway, I predicted that Floyd would school this kid. But in order for a challenger to snatch a belt in the new system, he has to score more knockdowns or knock out the champion. Otherwise the fight is recorded as a draw. Imagine how much more exciting the bout would've been if Floyd was forced to score actual knockdowns to win, not just counters off his back foot.
As it stands, Floyd utilized his usual safety-first game plan, to get the win, and nothing more. Last night, he again showed the world that he possesses elite class skills; but like a bad habit, he again didn't parlay that into a HOF performance because the sport currently fails to reward those who take risks (go for the KO).

Its funny how 3 judges lost their jobs after the Williams-Lara fight, but she's gonna get a slap on the wrist from the NSAC.
That was terrible scoring, that was a complete schooling from Floyd, from beginning to end.
