Years ago (someone here could give more precision) some people said a key criterion for judging was that, all other things being equal, the fighter that goes forward wins the round. This criterion seems to have disappeared at some point but I think it helped to make boxing more exciting. Given the state of boxing today, it's no surprise the criteria are not clear.

Do you think De La Hoya won the fight against Floyd??

I don't think DeLaHoya won but two rounds in that fight. He got seriously beaten up all over the ring.

I don't think he actually landed any meaningful shots except that last wild haymaker in the 12th with about 3~5 seconds to go.

I like what Canelo did in the midway in the 12th round. With Floyd content to just dance around the ring, Canelo stopped following him. I think that whoever fights him next should do the same thing. If you're coming forward and all he does is move side to side, don't waste your energy. Stand there and he'll be forced to fight.
