I was very impressed with Danny Garcia's performance against Lucas Matthysse. He fought a very good, disciplined and tactical fight as I expected he would.

On the other hand, I was very disappointed in Lucas' performance. He fell back into old patterns of starting slowly and attempting to out box a boxer. His only chance of winning this fight was to start quickly and turning it into a fast paced slug fest.

However, he didn't do that. He appeared tight at the onset and lacked the intensity and passion needed against Danny "Swift" Garcia. Moreover, it appeared that he was more than willing to fight Danny's kind of fight. It was the same pattern which caused him losses to both Zab Judah and Devon Alexander.

However, he did make one final push and last stand by buckling Danny and nearly had him out on his feet in the eleventh round until until Garcia spat out his mouthpiece to buy some time. However, by that time it was too late because his vision was severely compromised and he was too battered by the amount counter punches he had absorbed from Danny up until that point.

In addition, it didn't help matters either that he had the wrong referee in their officiating who had allowed Garcia to commit an excessive amount of fouls with the low blows and roughhousing tactics; Especially with the incessant holding and for punching Lucas when he was defenseless once his body was through the ropes, which caused the subsequent knockdown. In my opinion, that was a dirty cheap shot by Danny Garcia.

Lucas Matthysse needed a Steve Smoger type of referee in there to help him balance things out. One that would allow him to fight on the inside and out of the clinches like he did against Lamont Peterson.

Its funny... I state a fact, he replies with "I was right, u were wrong" becuz he guessed Garcia would win, and got lucky his guess what correct he didn't know how Garcia would win, he was just right by accident

My favorite part is how he keeps saying "I'm going to take the high road and leave" but he'll be back here in tomorrow replying to one of us...

Unlike some guys that picked Matthysse, I wasn't wrong about anything but the winner

I agree. Garcia won and I'm happy for the guy and props to Matthysse for trying his best and being a gentlemen even in defeat.
