Comments Thread For: Mares vs. Gonzalez Rematch on Broner-Maidana Bill?

According to the team of WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47KOs), they have been approached about doing a contracted rematch with Abner Mares (26--1-1, 14KOs) on December 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as part of the Adrien Broner-Marcos Maidana Showtime Pay-Per-View. Last month, Gonzalez scored a shocking upset win when he stopped previously undefeated Mares in the first round. There was a rematch clause, which Mares exercised not long after the loss.

It seems that Broner vs. Maidana want a strong undercard like Mayweather vs. Canelo. They have Gonzalez vs. Mares 2 and they'll look at Victor Ortiz to be on the undercard, after that who knows... Probably a Golden Boy/FOX Sports fighter against some inadequate fighter on his level.

Only because it needs a strong undercard if it's going to on PPV

They seem that they are pushing Mares too early into the rematch while he's coming from a KO.
I don't trust this kind of fights.
