On espn the girl said they're gonna talk about "the fight that might save boxing" smh. Will espn ever learn? If they decided to cover boxing more than just Floyd and PAC they'd know it was deadComment

Well boxing is always dying and always needs to be saved, so it is a weird combination of Jason and Lois Lane. That is just how it will always be to a certain high brow sect.
Of course Rafeal would smash those guys in any boxing conversation because he is a boxing head, you might not like his view or opinions but he comes by them because he watches a ton of boxing. Hard core fans don't like him as much because he writes to a more casual audience and his start in the sport came from Gatti so he isn't always the most kind to the sweet science set. Plus Rafeal gets people to react strongly to his views, some would say that is the sign of a quality writer~Comment

Dan Rafael was right on. I usually don't agree with him but as I have said here before, boxing has never been dead and will never be dead.
The problem is, that boxing is now a sport that is no longer in the mainstream. You can walk around the country and ask most people if they know who Lebron James is, and they will know.
You can do the same and ask if they know who Canelo or Floyd is and you will be surprised how many little people know that.
Wilbon and the rest of them aren't boxing fans, not hard core fans at least. They just remember the big names, and when they don't, they feel like the sport is suffering.Comment

That wasn't the bs I was referring to.
I meant to say it was bs to discredit floyd for fighting a guy 2 pounds below his normal weight. I just couldn't care less.
A lot of people fight at catchweights, and people don't say anything - but when Floyd does it, people talk about.
It's only controversial because it's floyd.
ok. fair enoughComment

All three are pedestrian when it comes to boxing knowledge, and generally dummies, but he is right, boxing is far from dead, it's declining, and has been since the 60's, but it's far from dead, if you want to talk about a combat sport that is dangling by a thread, look no further than, well, you know, oh Dana....
