    Will Mayweather-Canelo resemble Hopkins-Pavlik?

I see this fight coming up in a few days as resembling Hopkins-Pavlik in the sense that its an older crafty, defensive minded & skillful fighter vs a young, plodding power puncher. In my humble opinion Pavlik's resume at the time of his fight vs Hopkins was far better than Canelo's is currently. What do you guys think? Will Mayweather put on a Boxing 101 Clinic in the fight vs Canelo as Hopkins displayed against Pavlik?

Canelo doesn't just plod forward and throw shots just to throw them. He also has much better combination punching, head movement, and speed than Pavlik.

Don't sleep on Canelo. Canelo puts Floyd to sleep.

Also, Canelo's not just a head hunter.

Does he have a better jab or right hand than Pavlik?

To sleep? What Grade A elite fighter has he ever put to sleep?

I've been thinking very much about what you described as a potential outcome OP. I've thought to myself that it will either be the scenario you described or Canelo doing a Tarver/Jones on Floyd.

                good analogy
Floyd will have a rhythm that keeps Alvarez from getting off
with quicker feet and hands, he can move and hit at will
Alvarez will telegraph openings here and there for big shots
he can be hurt by blows he isn't set to take
Floyd will pick him apart and do greater damage as the fight goes on

Good analogy. I'd like it to look like that.

Funny you should bring this up. I was wondering am I the only one that notices Canelo's mechanical combinations? Meaning programmed and repetitious. He seems to throw similar combos all the time once he is in range to throw vs opponents? Are my eyes deceiving me?
