As i look at some of these posts, i cant help but think about how this man has given his life to boxing, not ducking, fighting big fights, now making big fights for our (the fans) enjoyment. And how the "fans" are always saying boxers should do this or that for the "fans" and now when he needs the support of these very "fans" they just kick him when he's down and make a joke out of something so serious and life threatening. This is why most athletes shouldn't give a damn about what a "fan" wants to see. Good luck to you CHAMP.

Responsible people and fans know very well what ODLH did and does for the sport.
The actual support must be given by his family and those close to him...

You're right. I'm strong enough to not fall into it. You think I'm going to let drugs, alcohol, and other addicting things destroy me? Fuck No! I have a family that I must be strong for and support. Destroying myself would be destroying them as well.

I'm so sick of people feeling sorry for junkies. They made a CHOICE. If addiction is a disease it's a disease that they CHOSE to give to themselves.
Drugs will destroy you and everything around you. You can't beat them, they will ALWAYS beat you. EVERYONE knows this but still some weak minded, selfish, fools try them anyway. Then when it spirals out of control, LIKE IT ALWAYS DOES, those of us who actually care about our bodies and our families, are supposed to have sympathy for these idiots who made this horrible choice on purpose. He's in the biggest fight of his life now but it's a fight that he didn't have to get into in the first place. I'm still a huge, huge Oscar fan but I don't feel the least bit sorry for him.It's a shame for the kids though.

So true, if ever was a time to stick it to Oscar, now would be it. But anyone can tell you "******* is a hellava drug" & that beast keeps knocking at your door so long as you have the money to feed it. I know first hand the road you go down when you are an addict, so my thoughts are with him, I truly hope he can be the 2% that recovers fully without relapsing.

broseph, it sounds like hes already relapsed. IDK what the percentage is for that doesnt relapse a 3rd time, but thats what hes aiming for now. supposedly. supposedly if he really is relapsing and not just jealous his PPV record is about to be broken.

You really think it's that easy? Perhaps you never drank alcohol, perhaps you never were given prescription pain medication, perhaps you never experienced the kinda hell that makes taking something, anything, to dull the pain, seem worthwhile.

No-one wants to become an addict, and I'm sincerely happy that neither you or your loved ones have been blighted by an addiction or the mental illnesses of which addiction is so often a symptom, but the sympathy of which you are so scornful is firstly I would hope, part of being human, and secondly a kinda prerequisite if addiction is to be successfully treated.

As you point out children, partners, friends even, are effected by addiction, and recovery is possible. Perhaps you think that those who, for whatever reason, have succumbed to addiction should simply be left to rot, their potential lost, their dependents abandoned?

You ever heard the saying 'there but for the grace of god, go I'? - Addiction could strike anyone, even you or your kids. Don't doubt it, every addict alive once thought it was something that couldn't happen to them.

EDIT: Oh, and just for your edification, in fact the vast majority of those who use drugs of all kinds do NOT go on to develop addictive or problem use, something above 90%, with the most addictive being Alcohol and Heroin.
