Lets say each PPV in 2007 sold for $49.95
2.4m * 49.95 = $119,880,000.00

With inflation, $119,880,000 in 2007 is worth $132,293,000 in 2012 (I know this is 2013, but for the sake of arguement, lets say 2013 is roughly the same as 2012)

So if Floyd/GBP were looking to tie the record, they would need to make approximately $132,300,000 dollars spread across SD & HD PPV broadcasts.

Using ellerbe's most likely uneducated estimate of 80% of homes with a television have an HD set @ a price of $74.95, SD being $64.95:

Using 2.4 million as a base line, if they reached that number, they would not only hit the $132,293,000 equilibrium point to "tie" the 2007 record, they would slaughter it in revenue due to not only inflation, but the massive price hike on the PPV itself.



To tie the 2007 record, taking into account inflation, they would only need to sell approximately 1.81 million PPV buys @ 80% HD, 20% SD (Total revenue from 1.81m buys: $132,000,000)

I don't think Boxing fights or any sports for that matter, probably except Football would be worth it in 3D.

3D just seems better for Kid movies and Action movies.

I will give Floyd a pass because he has a 2nd grade education, but the record was never about overall dollar amounts. Sure that was the result of it because it sold so much more but it was always touted as the record for the number of PPV units sold, not the overall amount.
It is still an impressive record considering Floyd nor Manny has come close to selling that many PPV's since and they have been the cash cows for the last 7-8 years.
i don't think this fight does more than 1.7 million.
This is completely anecdotal and a small sample, but a lot of people I know were really turned off by the Guerrero fight and said they may not be watching this one, especially at that price. Many of them may get ****** in by the hype by next weekend though...

I disagree, ESPN has been showing sports in 3D for a while now and its pretty damn cool. The only problem is that its pretty expensive for most people and probably not worth it to spend the money to output in 3D when so little fans would use it (and wouldn't want to pay extra for it.)
Watching college football in 3d is really nice though, I am sure Boxing would be just as good.

I'm having people over and not charging anyone. Get drunk as hell and watch the fights. If you're over the age of like 22 and that is a lot of money to you...get your **** together or stop being so damn cheap! I'm gonna order Pac-Rios and Marquez-Bradley as well.
