I agree that the Oscar fight catapulted him into stardom but he has sustained that stardom. No one else who fought Oscar went on to reach Floyd's level of fame. So he must be doing something right that others have not.

Maybe I read his comment wrong But I was assuming he was saying that Oscar is the reason why Floyd is making the money he is. Although I do agree that Oscar gave Floyd his first Megafight. There has to be something Floyd has done to continue to draw the attention he does. It could simply be always fighting a mexican fighter on or around cinco de mayo or Mex independence day but whatever it is. What he is doing with his career now can not be totally contributed to Oscar.

PBF is the smartest fighter in and out of the ring. He had to play the heel. De la Hoya was America's Golden Boy and Floyd knew that he couldn't compete with it so he had to come up with a "personality".

The problem with that is, the longer you do it, the more you become your onstage persona. The lines become blurred and then you people start hating you and not the persona anymore. Then you feel doubt, regret and later on, unappreciated. This is what I think Floyd is feeling now.

Uh, he is. Before he fought DLH, he wasn't known like today. He was just another fighter on PPV. To his credit, he birthed the 24/7. However, to this day, he still fights under the GBP banner. No matter how many times he says hes his own boss, he isn't. Yea, he fights who he wants to fight, but he needs people around him just like everyone else, and they get a large cut of the monies too.

Oddly enough, Manny is just as big, if not bigger world wide, without GBP. Yes, he fought DLH, and that boosted him big time, but he also fights under another master promoter, Arum. All of these big name fighters have big time help. From Ali, to Leonard to DLH, to Manny and Floyd.

But as far as the topic, hes lying when he says his personality is a part of the promotion. Hes incredibly insecure about his standing in boxing, and complains about it and complains about not getting credit. Thats not an act. He wished to be revered like Manny. No matter how much money he makes, that wish will never go away, because his entire life revolves around boxing. He was born into it, and Manny wasn't, and Manny is loved more.

Most people don't care what Floyd does outside the ring. His personality really doesn't affect much of the fans that follow the sport of boxing. the only reason that Floyd gets a lot of hate is because of his ducking ways to avoid worthy opponents.

It really just sounds like a group of distraught females here. Crying over a man that cheated on them. The importance of a father figure is vital, I would hate for my son to grow up to be as sensitive and invested in other men as you all are. "I hate Floyd so much, but I'm going to continue to tune into his fights" Let that mans d i c k go and enjoy the sport. I don't understand how you're over the age of 30 and upset with a man you don't know.

Probably all of them grew up without fathers.....maybe for similar reasons. I'm crying here too, but with laughter, It gave me a stitch in my side a while ago.

All this crap reminds me of ANNE LANDERS........... When I was a kid, under 10, I used to occasionally happen on her column. Maybe her sister who used to write the "DEAR ABBY" drek.

And the funniest thing is that these quarter-wits have NO IDEA how damned funny they actually are....... I've already sent in a couple of posts but I hope this is the last one on this subject because I'm in the middle of reading "The Four Feathers". It's really a fine book and I haven't read it for a few years and not the sort of book to read if I'm crying with laughter..
