K9 Bundrage was definitely a paper champion. Out of the current titlists, I think Shumenov fits the term.

How is Darren Barker a paper champion? He beat the champion for the title.

With super champion, Champions in emeritus, and the many new belts created just to do like the WBO created FOTD belt i think there are only a few real champions left

i only refer to the king of a division as the champion. the others are just titlists.

Wlad is the heavyweight champion. Stevenson is the LHW champion. Ward at 168. The winner of Garcia-Matthyse will be the champion at 140. There are probably lineal champions I'm overlooking but even then being lineal champion isn't enough in all instances. Sergio Martinez for example beat Pavlik for the title and has spent the years since then being very selective about who he fights.

If you beat the 6th best guy in the division for a belt then you deserve credit, but it doesn't make you any more of a champion in my eyes than if you beat the 6th best guy without a belt involved.
