Mayweather + Arrogance

There's a stark difference between promotion and real life. Floyd and his team sale a persona and people eat it up, yourself included. What makes some people so Arrogant?
You would have thought if someone had as much skill and accomplishments as Mayweather that they would not feel the need to promote themselves and demote others around them, usually a person dosnt feel like doing that when they have enough self esteem. They tend to become charitable if anything ie they let others put them down and dont care and they dont bother to promote themselves either because they already know they are awesome and have an excess of self esteem.
So why is Mayweather so arrogant still?
Also what makes people in general arrogant?Comment

Pretty much. Floyd knows how to sell himself and his fights. He does tread a fine line between being highly offensive and polite. He 's learned to come to grips with the criticism he gets, so he's a bit more calmer now in interviews.Alot of Mayweather's success has come from being like this, He's taken on this persona to promote himself, and it has worked, lets be honest, if the guy was as nice as pie no one would give a **** about him. The majority of discussions on this forum are filled with hatred towards Floyd, that's proof right there.
If all the fighters had the same demeanor as a JMM or any "nice acting" fighter, the boxing world would be a pretty darn boring place. Then people would clamor for fighters with "bad" personalities at every turn.
The world is about polarities. No two individuals act exactly alike. Many feel the need to put up a facade for the public's approval.

Fighters are arrogant by nature, even the one's that seem quiet and reserved. In a way, you have to be arrogant, because its a sport where two men are FIGHTING.What makes some people so Arrogant?

It's a combat sport, you have to feel like you are the best and keep repeating that over and over in your head.
I have no problem with arrogance, Ali was arrogant. My problem is the way Mayweather acts OUTSIDE of the ring. Burning money, cursing and acting like a jackass in interviews, and telling kids that you are only successful if you are a millionaire with a beautiful girl by your side.
He spawned Broner, and many more like him. That's the example that Mayweather gave. Mayweather is a great, HOF fighter, but he hasn't been the best role model or person IMO.
Saying that, I think he is maturing now at age 36.Comment

Floyd could be doing worse out of the public eye. Drugs, stealing, womanizing, DUI arrests, actin' the fool by tearing up hotel rooms and lobbies, urinating into the crowds at large gatherings, picking fights with security guards, ... oh wait.Fighters are arrogant by nature, even the one's that seem quiet and reserved. In a way, you have to be arrogant, because its a sport where two men are FIGHTING.

I cannot understand why, in a sport that continuously chews up and spits out lives, people would ask any fighter that has NOT been humbled, to BE humble.
There HAVE been great, humble, charitable fighters that have died broke and alone. Others have just died broke, still haunted by what they were.
Let this man live it up until it all ends. Because it will end one day.Comment

You know what Mayweather would be without his "Money May" persona? Andre Ward. No disrespect to Ward or anything like that. He is one of the fighters I respect most. But he will never make anywhere near what Floyd does, and a lot of that has to do with his laid back, professional persona.Comment
