  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin-Stevens Winner Has To Face Martin Murray

World Boxing AssociationmMiddleweight champion Gennady Golovkin requested a special permit, with the WBA, to defend his title against Curtis Stevens on November 2 at The Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden. Golovkin needed permission from the sanctioning body to move forward with an optional fight before he makes his mandatory defense against the official challenger Martin Murray.

Will Hatton even let Murray be the mandatory?

title makes it seem like the current holder never wanted to fight.
As soon as the Visa issue is resolved I"m sure there'll be no problem. Murray said he put his in earlier this summer so it should be resolved by then if they fight in the States or go to the UK

Exactly. I wouldn't be suprised if Hatton and Murray avoided this fight too.

Martin Murray is a big tough middleweight. No doubt he will be GGG's toughest fight to date. If GGG blasts out Murray like he did Macklin, then he will be what I think he is.... the real deal!

Murray spent time in jail in his early 20s ... In 2012, the American authorities have refused to grant him a swift visa - therefore forcing him to withdraw from his shot at WBC titleholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

... Now: just where this Golovkin vs Murray fight would happen? St Helens?

Hatton and Murray have gone to Germany to fight Sturm and gone to Argentina to fight Martinez so lets end this "avoiding" talk. They may very well get a better offer to fight Barker.

It would be a very good fight for golovkin.

to have 5 fights in one year.

Next year bring on Chavez and Martinez. After that move up...

I know Hatton's said before that Murray might need a few more fights under his belt, but I'm sure he ain't gonna turn down a big money title fight on HBO if the visa issue gets sorted out. They've got plenty of time and with those HBO $s greasing the wheels at the State Department I'm pretty sure this will get done.

I don't know how the hell I missed Murray being the mando though.

Happy days...Murray really should get in a tune up first, though.
