Mesut Ozil was just transferred to Arsenal -- he's only beginning to learn English.

My understanding was not that the visa wouldn't be granted, but that Murrays team hadn't mentioned it in advance, and once it came to light Arum couldn't be sure that it would be sorted out in time for the fight. They didn't want to risk the date, so they found an alternative.

My understanding is that a working visa application needs to be made for each particular fight as well, so Murray can't just get a visa without a fight date, then just wait for a fight to come up. Once he is granted it once though it should be a lot easier in the future.

I have no competence on the issue of a "working visa". I only have a 10 years tourist visa for the U.S.

Learn about the requirements and procedures to successfully secure a US P-1 visa for foreign athletes.

Basically a P1a visa for internationally recognised athletes allows them to stay for the duration of a particularly specified event or competition including preparation and training time etc.

Foreign nationals who are essentially based in the US (eg Kovalev) may have a different visa (some kinda residential work permit I would imagine).

Why would Murray even bother to keep the WBA interim belt if supposedly his intention was to always duck Golovkin? He could have easily just dropped it for the Martinez fight without anyone caring since he was fighting for the WBC.

I don't see this fight happening, not because these guys don't want it but I think the promoters of each man wants to wrap their guy in wool till a big fight comes along. For GGG it's Martinez and for Murray it's an all British clash with Barker. Those fights are bigger in terms of viewing audiences and money than GGG V Murray.

I'm not expecting this fight to happen next, but I guess we'll see. It would be a pleasant surprise to be proven wrong.
