Knowing the threadstarter I'm pretty sure when he says "change the face of boxing" he's referring to pigmentation.

Indeed. But it a shame he is not as popular as Hatton or Calzaghe with the fans.

Obviously this is fairly silly but it's a good point that fighters like Froch create pressure on others to take the big challenges.

I hate to see it, but I guess noone can be great in all areas. There's always a feel of bias/agenda there..

I agree with some of what you say in here though. Who has the better resume Ward/Froch has some debate in it, as Froch has more depth, but Ward has Froch on it. Where's the shame in losing to arguably the best fighter in the world? They are two of my favourite fighters, but for different reasons. The thing is though, when it comes to Froch, it's not so much about his skill or his wins. It's more how he puts nearly every other fighter to shame with his long string of solid competition - old school warrior. This is on top of what OP describes above, in that he was shunned by the British boxing scene for some reason, and fought his way out of it.

As for the OP, he hasn't changed boxing. But when he's no longer around the sport, people can use his story to question why the boxing machine doesn't have warriors like Froch the way it should. I feel Froch is going to be MUCH more appreciated after it's all said and done for him

part of the "character" that you see is humor. reality based humor is kind of my thing. it's only funny if it's got some basis in reality. outside of that, i call it how i see it, which is exactly what i'm doing here.

          ward > froch, doe.

          there's no getting around that.

don't get me wrong, i love carl froch. i was ringside for froch - taylor. i wouldn't feel it was at all inappropriate if froch is eventually in the hall of fame. they let arturo gatti in, ffs. he gets extra credit for taking tough challenges in an era where fighters are protected. we can't let that cloud our evaluation of how good he is, or what he's accomplished.

Look at the Kessler froch fight 2, ward and co hated Froch because they knew it would mean Ward may have to come to the Lions dens and beat the Froch in England.

They give him his big moment on Skysports when they thought he was going to get Mullered by Bute.

And its backfired. He made the likes of Floyd Mayweather and other cherry pickers get exposed, as froch is now getting the world wide exposure, and look at the fights you got this year.

Froch is the reason that Fury hayes happening, cleverly Kovalev happened, canelo Floyd happened, povetikin Wlad happening...

Theres no where to hide because of froch willingness to fight anyone anywhere, the Fans took note and now they expect everyone to be like Carl.

Like him or not he has literally changed boxing forever...
Froch is just bad-ass. He is clearly 2nd best Super MW in the world and will be the best when S.O.G. moves up to 175 soon.

That's true but you can blame a large chunk of the casual crowd for not knowing him, he had some of his biggest fights in the US and then spent a chunk of time on Showtime. I remember he was on ITV for a bit and was damn popular...Man I miss ITV boxing, he beats the **** out of the Channel 5 broadcast.

I doubt Carl Froch had any influence on the decisions of other fighters outside of his weight class.
