I don't care about catchweights to be honest, nobody did until Floyd an his minions or the pac haters made a big deal and lied spreading lies calling him catchweight king. until that point nobody really cared, because floyd did a cw with jmm and nobody really cared they just said why is he calling up a small guy and for only a few moments they said why did he miss weight that was wrong, but I notice this the flowmos do not stop, they will hate and hate and bring up catchweight king for years. The thing is people who criticized Floyd did it and moved forward.

There were many catchweights before but nobody made a big deal untile the flowmos came around trying to discredit Pac, they even started the rumor that Pac fought Oscar at a catchweight and said that Oscar couldn't hydrate back on fight night that it was in the contract.

This is the flowmos getting exposed as hypocrites, if Canelo pulls off the impossible they could call this sweet justice.

hopefully boxing gets better never put the power in a guy like Floyds hands again, and there is another one like Floyd coming up his name is AB boner

Forget all that and understand a trainer has no part in negotiations, yet he was speaking publicly about supposed details. That's why Ellerbe was calling him an idiot, he showed their hand too early.

That's the article Ellerbe is referring to, I'm 99% sure of it otherwise he wouldn't have referenced boxingscene. Floyd or Ellerbe mentioned his trainer putting it out there on the promotional tour too. Show me another article it could have been.
            A brief response right now:

            1) You do notice the discrepancy in Ellerbe's story and the contents of your article, right? (BTW, I'm not saying it isn't the article that he is referring to. I think you're right that it is. Good work finding it!) LE says that Canelo & Co. put forward the idea of a catchweight and TMT accepted. The article talks about an offer having been made earlier and TMT wanting no part of it. What changed? And why?

            2) Maybe you've heard something that I haven't, but I never heard Ellerbe use the word "trainer" as you have done. He just talked about Alvarez's "management", if I'm not mistaken.

            3) Whoever did whatever first, I still disagree with Ellerbe's and Floyd's whole take on the catchweight issue. Floyd cannot in good conscience say (as he does in that clip) "The fight's at 152, but it's not about the weight, it's about skill." I find that hypocritical and insulting (especially when you recall what he has said in the past about Pacquiao).

Yeah that Marquez fight was weak too. It's amazing what fighters will do once they get some leverage in negotiations.

I find Ellerbe's beard to be incredibly unnerving and groomed beyond logic.

                  1. I do see the discrepancy. I can only think Ellerbe and FMJ never received the original catchweight offer, maybe it was only communicated to Schaefer. I don't know.

                  2. I did some research. There are two Reynosos, one is Canelo's manager Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, the other is his trainer Eddy Reynoso. Boxingscene referred to Jose as his trainer, when in fact it is his manager. Someone correct me if this is wrong.

                  3. Floyd and Ellerbe are obviously hypocritical however, they're acting in their best financial interests. It's their blinkered fans that always give them a pass that bother me.

Fair enough. Thanks for your research, Weebs. I don't dispute your analysis in #3, though I still disagree w/Floyd & Co., 'financial interests' or not. Boy, they must actually have real concerns about Pretty Boy losing to Cinnamon Boy.
