Bingo. What I've always said. And you know what, AD? I don't think Floyd needed those 2 lbs. In fact I think all it will amount to ultimately is a very unwise PR move on TMT's part. Team Mayweather shot themselves in the foot.

If it's about skill then why fight at a catchweight?

Exactly, "weight dont win fights, skills do" was one of Floyd's favorite qoutes.

This is why the fighters of today can't hang with the fighters of the 80s and earlier. Too much hand holding, complaining, advantages, bitching going on.

people will take anything out of context if they want to see only bad.

if Floyd says that Pac-Cotto was a catch weight with a purpose to drain Cotto, when both fighter were very well at 147, that has not a thing to do with if for example: a 147 Pac would have faced a thick 154 Canelo and asked for a catch weight of 152..(though Pac probably wouldve said 147/150..eg Mosley, pre Floyd fight)..he would have been well within his right to do so.
              and that is the difference-

Floyd is not facing another 147lber and saying..okay meet me at 144/145 catch weight..hes facing a thick necked 154lber, who comes in almost 20 lbs over on fight night!
Floyd wasnt required to fight Canelo, but he better damn sure even the playing field!
He would be crazy to come in on fight night at 152, against Canelo, without trying to make it even by having Canelo give up 2 lbs..
You got that a$$ backwards. Pac was moving up to his 7th division, and would have been a huge underdog to Cotto 12 months prior. Floyd is a 2x and current SWW champ. Why is he holding on to the belt for 1yr+ if he's too small for his 5th division?

It mentioned Canelo's willingness to do a catchweight, that's the key. 152lbs is a catchweight.

Your article said that Mayweather's camp was demanding that the fight be at 147 lbs.! Only then did Canelo's camp offer a catchweight -- and the article says that Team Mayweather rejected it. So how does that scenario fit in with what Ellerbe is saying in the clip?
Forget all that and understand a trainer has no part in negotiations, yet he was speaking publicly about supposed details. That's why Ellerbe was calling him an idiot, he showed their hand too early.

That's the article Ellerbe is referring to, I'm 99% sure of it otherwise he wouldn't have referenced boxingscene. Floyd or Ellerbe mentioned his trainer putting it out there on the promotional tour too. Show me another article it could have been.

I'm totally with you bro. Don't forget how Floyd didn't even bother making his weight limit vs JMM in their CW fight. Crazy how the two biggest boxers in the sport did all that sucker b1tch **** right??? Smh
