Come on man, Chavez couldn't do anything against Martinez on the inside for 11 rounds...

I'll feel it's regrettable if a boxer of Andre Ward's caliber doesn't get in on one of the best years in boxing we could've hoped for in 2013. I'd like him to be a part of this banner year and make his own contribution to it. I would think he would want to too.

Well... doubt he'll be fighting Chavez because chavez will be getting the bigger portion and he got what against Sergio...3?
He did, but he offered E-Rod $800k, ER turned it down and is holding out for a $1m.

Martinez is a mover, Chavez couldn't get near him for the most part. Ward by instinct is an inside fighter, it's a better stylistic match-up for Jr.

Don't get me wrong, I think he'll lose but his size makes it interesting.

Still.... that's a lot of money... chavez Jr. got 3 for PV
Ward's cutting it awfully close there.

yeah I think Ward should take less and offer Rodriguez more to get the fight done, but then I'm a boxing fan who just wants to see the fight.

I think this matchup could end up being quite entertaining. But without the huge size advantage, does Chavez have enough skill to compete. He should look better than he did against Sergio but Ward is very physical and crafty. It's a fight I don't see Chavez winning at all but maybe he can still raise his stock with a good showing.

Chavez did have Martinez against the ropes several times and didn't do much there besides eating uppercuts.

Ward can move too, and he can clinch and do all sorts of things to nullify his opponent' offense. And he's probably stronger than Chavez as well. It's a mismatch.

He also mauled and dropped him on the ropes almost winning the fight, he broke Lee down the same way. Ward and Martinez aren't comparable anyway since styles make fights and their styles are almost opposing.

The vast majority of Andre Ward fights are fought on the inside, I expect this bout to be the same and that offers Chavez an opportunity to put work in, particularly late on when Ward's stamina comes under scrutiny.

It's an interesting fight imo. Will Ward win? more than likely but that would be the case regardless of who fights him at 168 and he's not moving up yet (his words).
