Louis would stop him late. Bad style for Holyfield to fight against IMO

      Who you got?
This would be one helluva fight; and in all truth, could go either way. Both fighters are about the same size, virtually identical, really. Louis, I think, has the edge in punching power. Holyfield has a better chin. Louis, I feel, was more technically sound and had a better defense and a much better jab.

Another interesting aspect is both were really good counter-punchers; and both like to go right after their man. No fear either way, no hesitation; but I feel Louis was the more ring wise of the two. I think he was slightly more of a thinking fighter than Holyfield, who fought more with his heart when he had to dig in; and that's where the edge is.

Both fighters would stun each other, both would counter each other and both would occasionally just let it fly. This is about as close to a perfect fight as you would ever see at heavyweight, IMO. The edge would be with Louis given Holyfield's penchant for battle and Louis's cool demeanor.

Louis by an o so close decision in one for the ages.

Especially off one good rt hand. Louis has to go life and death to beat holy.
Louis was the master at setting traps and landing lethal combos on you in the inside. Its the punch you don't see coming that puts your lights out.

Joe Louis would basically JMM/PAC 4 most of his opponents that he KOd. He might not take him out with 1 shot, but that 1 shot will lead to a stunned Holyfield and a follow up of a bunch of hard shots that would stop the fight.

I have learned to never count a prime Holyfield out. I would say Louis but it is entirely possible that Holyfield finds a way to beat Louis.

Most haven't even seen Louis fight they just echo what others do. To say the guy wasn't flawed and limited is ridiculous. He was a one-dimensional flat-footed stalker who couldn't handle speed & movement. Holyfield would pick him apart with severe ease. The guy is inferior in every way, shape & form to Holyfield.
Hell I am sure if Holyfield wore those little ass gloves from back then he too would have a serious K.O ratio

This guy beats prime Holyfield? On what planet?

louis beats him. holyfield's chin would keep him up when the big punches land. louis would end up getting off of the gas later in the fight.

holyfield was an athletic guy and a great boxer, but he was too willing to put his head down and take punches. this is probably an example of a fighter who would win a fight, but would't. louis might be the most dangerous offensive fighter ever. his right hand was absurd. short, accurate, and hard as F. holyfield would end up trading.

my only question would be about louis' ability to deal with a mobile fighter of that size. billy conn was tall, but he had a much shorter reach and was naturally much smaller of bone and muscle than holyfield. louis was behind on the judges cards at the time of the stoppage in the first conn fight.

here's some of the first conn fight, where you can see why some of the movement might trouble louis. it hsould be noted that conn might look a bit unorthodox because this was the 40's. conn also had a terrific chin.

Is this video supposed to prove that you get hit with a counter left hook eveytime you leap in on Louis? Louis was beating his ass. Conn has the durability of the legends.

here's louis against a bigger guy in max baer who was willing to trade.

in exchanges louis has those insanely powerful, short punches. holyfield wouldn't come out on top if they traded.

on the outside louis is patient, and shows a great jab in this fight.
