Andre Ward, in the span of 2 years fought Sakio Bika, Arthur Abraham, Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. What does he have to show for it? Nothing but a couple of green boxes on BoxRec.

He did everything right. He fought the top rated fighters in his division, he beat them all, he carried himself with class and he cleaned out his division. That is everything we ask for from a fighter. What do we reward him with...NOTHING.

Why? Because we want to see ignorance and ******ity. We would rather pay money to see Adrien Broner act like a damn fool against Gavin Rees and Maidana level opposition, because he entertains us. We would rather see, Brandon Rios take 400 power punches in the face because it entertains us. (Even though we're not going to be paying his medical bills when he suffers long term brain damage but that's another story)

So what that tells me is....we don't care if a fighter takes on the best fighters in his division. Ward did that and he doesn't have **** to show for it. Floyd carefully selected opponents with big fan bases and we made him the richest athlete in pro sports. Broner is on his way to making millions in this game because he knows how it works.

So let's go back to Andre Ward.."I cleaned out 168, I carried myself with class, but my fight purses don't reflect that. I guess its not about fighting the best. So let's try something else." That's the message we the fans sent to Andre Ward.

Because of that, I support Andre Ward. Get the most money you can out of this brutal and violent sport while you are in your prime. Chavez has a huge fanbase and it will be the biggest payday Ward will ever make in his career. He fought the best, but that's not what the fans want. So on to plan B. Either put out a rap CD, record yourself taking a dump at Popeye's and wear a gold grill, or just fight guys that can financially benefit you.
You're ranting to the wrong guy. I'm in fact a huge fan of Ward. Doesn't change that he isn't a draw. I don't want to see Broner at all, much less on any damn ppv. however it is what it is. Ward isn't a big draw and Broner is getting shubbed down our thoats.

He made more than one proposal, they've all been rejected. His offer to Rodriguez was rejected too. He isn't boycotting HBO because he's invested in them and works for them. I'll re-iterate, he shouldn't be asking for 7 figure paydays to fight below-par opponents.

Then why isn't Mike Alvarado paid like Berto? Because Berto is an Al Haymon hypejob that had the HBO machine behind him. It had nothing to do with his style.
It doesn't matter who was hyping Berto, if he wasn't entertaining no one would've watched him. Of course you need promotional push from the right people but you have to entertain too whether it be inside or outside the ring. To the casual fan Andre Ward fails on both counts.

Mayweather always talked ****. He was at his best when he was trashing Gatti before their fight. He became a star after he beat the biggest star in the sport at the time...Oscar De La Hoya.

And that's why Ward is going after Chavez, who is one of the stars in today's era in terms of popularity.
Mayweather has been on dancing with the stars, he's appeared in rap videos, he goes on hot 97 he was a big part of 24/7 series and yeah he talks a lot ish. In short, he promotes himself to a wider audience.

Bernard Hopkins beat De La Hoya too, did he become a PPV star? no, and through his career he's had to rely on controversy to help sell his fights i.e. self promotion. Beating a well known opponent helps, but it's not the whole story.

        Ward needs an equal.

Sadly there isnt anyone on his level or anyone that can help propel him into "star" status.

Maybe a fight with Junior, Hopkins or Martinez but Sergio wowuld never fight Ward.

Funny how you only say Sergio wouldn't fight Ward and not Hopkins who has openly admitted he wouldn't.

That Williams KO really cut deep

I read somewhere Tommy was offered a fight, passed. It makes a lot of sense, he struggles badly vs Gonzales, who's like a low grade version of Ward.

That's how the business works. There is never one opponent on the table. You bring a list to HBO, they have their ideas and you negotiate. Ward says "I'm looking at A, B and C". HBO comes back and says, no deal. How about Edwin Rodriguez? Ward comes back and says, get it done. They offer him $800K. Edwin rejects it. Edwin Rodriguez turning down $800,000 is not an Andre Ward problem. That's called over pricing yourself because you know your not going to win.

Correction. If he wasn't with Al Haymon nobody wouldn't have watched him because he wouldn't be headlining fights on HBO. Your telling me that Mike Alvarado or Ruslan Provodnikov (exciting fighters) would be able to get HBO dates versus Miguel Angel Rodriguez, Michael Trabant, Steve Forbes and Freddy Hernandez?

Hopkins headlined numerous PPV bouts after his fight with Oscar some of which exceeded 300,000 buys.

Are you comparing a DQ to a decison win? You mad I speak the truth about Sergio? Hes a cherrypicker now. His career is done. Hes finished. Hope you cry yourself to sleep about it.

                      I'm comparing two bad decisions.

I'm not mad, I just wonder why you only single out Sergio and not Hopkins who has openly admitted he would never fight Ward.

Now why would you not mention that I wonder? Whoever did your user title hit the nail on the head.
