What Canelo needs to do is make Mayweather's defense ***********al by hitting him on the arms, shoulder or even rabbit punching, make him a little disoriented. It's difficult to punch with someone who isn't offering much, isn't within range and is the far superior athlete; boxer. Canelo has good enough timing that he's able to get away with telegraphing the counter left hook or lead right hand, but Floyd will read him like a book when he attempts that, he'll feint him, force Canelo to have to reset.

Canelo simply needs to take it to Floyd. He has the youth, strength, size, two handed attack (Cotto doesn't have a right hand) and the skill to be more successful than some of Mayweather's past opponents. My only issue with Canelo is that he isn't fast on his feet. Recently someone who sparred both of them said Canelo may have improved but he's still slow on his foot and cited that as the reason why Mayweather will win.
True that, Floyd doesn't throw enough combination punches for that to be very effective on him; I hear ya. But I just don't think Canelo is the type of guy that will take it to Floyd and keep it on him. That said, he's going to get caught up in the same game everyone else gets suckered into... Try to hit Floyd, fail and get popped in return, all night. We'll see.

The kid will be ready to fight the fight of his life. He's going up against one of the best fighters of the last 20 years, and one of the best defensive fighters of all times. And he has a 36 year old Floyd in front of him. What more could the kid ask for.

            his feet were planted..

you have to move and use footwork to get to floyd...

without footwork you could hit like a truck, floyd wont be there to be hit
I just watched Floyd vs Guerrero and noticed Floyd likes to use his elbows/forearms on his opponents neck or head alot to get him off balance after he throws/misses a punch or when his opponent gets close. He also uses his elbows and hands to push for the same reason.
