Can Canelo pull a PPV card on his own?

After hearing Oscar say Canelo is boxing biggest star (probably said with a hint of sarcasm) it got me thinking about his drawing power.

Whilst he does have a few good wins on his résumé like Austin Trout and to a lesser extent Josesito Lopez, his résumé is mostly made up by the Matthew Hattons, Cintrons and Rhodes of today. Is he a big enough star to warrant a PPV show? Would you buy it? Say vs a good but not great opponent?

He probably can IMO even if he loses.... they were going to do it with Paul Williams before the accident.
    Would I buy it?
Would have to be a fight that really interests me or have a stacked card.... if not, nope

Depends who the opponent is but yes he will be able to especially after the Mayweather fight.

I wouldn't buy it but I know a lot of Mexicans who would. They'd salivate over a Canelo PPV. It's not even up for debate.

Floyd keeps ****in on about how he made the kid a star but he was alread ya star in Mexico before he started fighting in the US, how many fights has he had on a Floyd undercard anyway?

It's more like GBP has made him a star. Floyd should also thank GBP for making him a star lool

Depending on the opponent, he could do what Jcc, Jr and Martinez did. 450-575k could be possible for his first go round had it not been with Floyd IMO

LOL GBP made Canelo and Floyd. How many Floyd undercards has the kid fought on? You do know the guy was a star at 20 in Mexico right?

Yea I think he can against the right opponents. Canelo is the 3rd biggest draw in the sport. He will continue to expand his fan base whether he beats Mayweather or not. Golden Boy will have to create good cards and I could see Canelo doing 500,000+. A win over Floyd would catapult him to superstardom.

I have nothing against Alvarez but I dont think I would by a PPV where he was the headliner. I think he is a good fighter but none of his fights have thrilled me, and none of his previous fights even suggest he should be a PPV attraction. Who wants to pay money to see this guy fight a bunch of welterweights moving up in weight?
