HBO has a new deal in place from last year with ESPN for old fights, interviews, commercials, and highlights. Bradley and JMM are scheduled to do whole day interviews on different ESPN shows.

Showtime still will not sign a deal with ESPN of this nature. Showtime will not allow highlights to be shown on Jim Lampley's show either, even though it would benefit their fighters. They are very selective in who they allow access to.

Money May will be all over ESPN in the next week. Canelo is scheduled to do some press too.

It's CBS that boxing fans should be pissed at !!! They own Showtime and barely help promote boxing. The Santa Cruz fight on CBS was a start but NBC is killing them with their well-watched and advertised boxing series plus more regular NBC network fights that will be on the next 2 years.

NBC does boxing coverage and the new deal with FOX allows for it.GBP is a little behind on this aspect and needs to catch up.They have some great young talent who need mainstream exposure. Old man Arum and TR are beating them badly in this department with HBO's deal with ESPN.

When Dana was trying to market that chick as a PPV star he outright said he would make a huge marketing push and get the PPV all over ESPN. You can pay for spots just like any other show or network.

Nobody gave two ****s about the UFC's first female champion, then out of nowhere after Dana announces that he's pumping loads of money into a huge marketing campaign she starts appearing all over it. MMA is nothing without that promotion.
Yeah you can buy ads, and airtime for commercials, and be sponsors to some of the segments,,,

but i know for a fact you just cant pay espn to be on sportcenter,,,,, they cover what people want to see,,,,

Dana white was talking about by ads, and sponsorship segments from ESPN,, that is completely different than buying airtime for interviews and such,,,,
So your right about dana white spending money, but wrong when you say it was for interviews and such,,,,
      close but different

I understand where you are coming from about the lack of coverage of Boxing on ESPN but Mayweather-Canelo, Marquez-Bradley and Pacquiao-Rios will have far greater coverage on ESPN than Rampage-Ortiz and each event will have far more ppv buys. Boxing has a lot of coverage in America just not much mainstream coverage. Most Boxing coverage is outlets that hit the Latino and African American communities.

Ummmm, agents and promoters call ESPN to get air time for their fighters to gain publicity.GBP is poor at this.TR is boss at this as Pacman and JMM spent the whole day prior to their 4th fight at ESPN doing promos.Money May is scheduled to go on ESPN too as he is a boss too.

Wake-up Oscar and use FOX,ESPN,and CBS.****,GBP has cotracts with CBS and FOX now...use them to promote better.Sign the ESPN deal similiar to HBO. You have a great product now take it to the next level.

You've just inspired me to start typing out alternative personality from now on.

Boxing isn't mainstream in the States because our best athletes don't box. Simple as that. The most popular sports are the ones where our best athletes go. The second reason is likely how hard the sport is to follow.

Can't speak for the rest of the world.

the UFC may be paying for those two to get some airtime. as you mentioned, they are washed up. this is a big fight 5-10 years ago.

nobody's gotta pay espn to put floyd mayweather or manny pacquiao on the air.

MMA definitely seems to be losing some of its steam, but boxing is still boxing. it's a top heavy sport. most boxer's don't make jack sh#T, but the guys on TV are well paid, and the highest paid athlete on the planet is still a boxer, the way it's been throughout much of the last century.

come on man you foolin with this one. He damn near knockd maidana's head off. Real boxing fans aprreciate defense technique and skills. but that time he exchanged a little too much for my taste. but he wanted to get maidana out of there. it was a good fight

The fact that they have Friday Night Fights but don't cover anything else involved with boxing puzzles me. Even their top ten plays of the week countdown may consist of a FNF KO, but not a KO from HBO or any other network. As an all sports station ESPN is everything wrong with sports media. Props to Comcast network and now Fox for showing live boxing events again. Now its up to these idiot promoters to put good cards on these shows.
FYI,HBO signed a new contract with ESPN at the end of last year allowing promotional coverage with ESPN,weigh-in coverage, interviews, and hightlight footage to shown on ESPN networks 30 minute after fights.

Showtime did not sign this deal.

MMA isnt on espn anymore then boxing. Not sure what you are talking about. Floyd Manny Bhop and others have been on espn numerous times.

Also you said mma is accesible on free tv? How do. 75% of their shoes are on ppv.

YEs, but they arent paying for it,,, when espn brings in people to interveiw, its very similar to when someone goes on jay leno or letterman to promote their own movie,,, they arent paying for it,,, ESPN doesnt sell interviews,, they will sell you everything else like promotions, ads, sponsorships etc, but they arent getting paid to do interviews, much like how nobody pays to get on the tonight show or conan obrien,,, ESPN obviously wants ratings so they try and cover what is current,,, but they arent selling it,,,

Nobody is paying them to put ortiz and rampage on air,,,, like i said, its similar to going on the tonight show or letterman,,,, ESPN gets live interview and hopefully ratings, and the guys get some publicity,, its a win win for everyone involved,,,
MMA has a slower growth rate than it did 10 years ago,,, it much like a stock like apple,,, Apple wasnt worth crap in the late 90's, much like mma, then got hot with ipad, itunes, etc and stock soared for a decade, much like mma, but then everyone that was going to buy apple products has bought them so they have slower growth which in the last year hurt their stock, even though it was rebounded yet,,, It is known as a mature stock instead of a growth stock now, because it will still grow but just very slowly, much like mma,, it grew fast, everyone knows about it,, but now they are stagnant and not growing as fast,, but they are still growing, and still make money but it takes decades to surpass other sports,, baseball was huge, and it took the nba and nfl decades to surpass them... same thing with mma,,, it may have lost its hot growth but its still a tremendously successful sport and isnt going anywhere anytime soon

Real boxing fans yes,,,,, but casual mainstream fans,, the ones that watch fights on cbs and other free channels would be bored to death with an alexander fight,,

I know this is devon,, so please just log off and keep training for the khan fight,,, he might be the only one to make you look exciting,,,
