Losing to wlad a second time was a blessing in disguise for thompson

After his dreadful performance in his rematch with wlad he was completely written off as a fighter. Mahoney made the disasterous decision to match his prize fighter with thompson. A 15 fight novice with a couple domestic wins on his resume vs a 41 year old 2 time world title challenger who was still in the top 10. Thompson wins in 2 & still gets no respect but earns a fat check & another chance to prove it was no fluke. He does it again & then hughie fury challenges him. He takes an eliminator fight instead. He has become some what of a household name over in europe. I bet his phone will start ringing more as he will get more offers from european promoters. Good for tony & who would have thought thompson would even get another big fight after the wlad rematch?

Thompson will definitely get another fight in the UK. Maybe against Chisora or one of the Furys.

Even the english commetators like him. I hope he does get a few more fights in europe. The more i watch fights in europe, the more i appreciate the fans. English & german fans are different but are both very supportive of their fighters but i really respect how the german fans treat the visiting fighters. Always cheer & show respect win or lose...

He's a stepping stone with a name now, that makes him a high value opponent for up and comers.

German fans are especially respectful but they don't add much to the atmosphere, it was a like a library at times during that card last night.

Personally I'd like to see Chisora v Thompson. I think Thompson still has too much for a green Hughie Fury.

The German fans lack emotion they are so quiet.

              Agreed.

I'd like to see David Price fight him.

That's how he got his name in the UK, he was just a stepping stone before.

Minus the early career loss he has only lost to wlad & pulev. He's not exactly a stepping stone when his losses are in a final eliminator & 2 title fights against the best HW on the planet. Just my opinion but it baffles me why he is so lightly regarded. He wasn't exactly on the top of promoters opponent lists before the 2nd klitschko fight.

Tony deserves tons of respect for the way he's handled himself this year and the way he's fought people who were considered top contenders or prospects at world level.

It is a bit sad that he's more valued in Europe than in his home country. The US has a fighter who at 42 would take the challenge and does not duck anybody and is still actively pursuing world title shots, but his countrymen seem to be bedazzled by flashy Wilder taking shots at fighters barely in the top 100 or extremely limited fighters like Mitchell and Banks.
