Not sure about that although it was my first thought when I was reading the article. Health should always be first but then he mentioned the possibility of facing Alvarado which is good puncher and boxer. Then how is that going to help the health of Marquez?

i think these statements further solidify the opinion that jmm doesnt want to risk losing again. they dont want a rahman/lewis scenario playing out.

I don't think it's fair to compare JMM-Pacquiao to Lewis-Rahman. Marquez & Pac fought 3 times previously at a competitive level each time.

Rahman's KO over Lewis was a major upset at the time.

I can't blame JMM for not wanting to fight Pac again coming off a great 1 punch KO win like that.

And another factor we need to look at is why Pacquiao picked JMM. Coming off the Bradley "loss" Pac's only other realistic option to fight at the time was vs JMM. Bradley or JMM .. A or B

Freddie Roach already felt Pac clearly beat Tim Bradley .. as did 80-90% of the rest of the free world so running back a Pac-Bradley sequel made little to no sense

so if one option is ruled out, that means they're fighting JMM.

I still believe JMM need to be honorable and give Manny Pacquiao the chance of redemption. MP gave it to have few times without any need because he was already very popular and didn't totally need JMM to continue his quest. But he did then got KO and Marquez know does not want to return the favor?

I don't know if you can necessarily say Pac rematched JMM without need, as even the official decisions Pac won over JMM were pretty widely disputed

but JMM scores a clean KO over Pac, that's a lot more decisive than a heavily debated 1 or 2 point decision. Especially with the way boxing fights are scored being so subjective.
