60-70%....really?Comment

If it comes down to fighting in Martinez's back yard or no fight I think he'll take the risk. A rematch could well take place in the U.S. But obviously gate receipts would be huge in Argentina.Comment

A fit injury-free Martinez could outbox GGG, hold him back with the overhand left and shred his face with the jab. Sergio's quick feet and good use of lateral movement, make it difficult to pin him down on the ropes, GGG has soft skin so Sergio will probably batter his face if he lands multiple clean shots to Gennady's face. Stamina could also be a big factor if and when this fight takes place. Hopefully Sergio looks the part when he comes back.Comment

Martinez will need a little tune up fight before getting in with Triple G. But I can't see a fading Martinez beat him.
If Martinez can perform like he did v Chavez, I have no doubt he will give Triple G a real boxing lesson of the sweet science.
Can't wait for his return. I just hope he isn't to damaged. Martinez is always great to watch, he really has world class skills.Comment

Now speaking about Sergio himself, in that fight he was about 50%, you could tell physically he wasn't as ripped as he had been in previous fights, that much was obvious. He was slow and lethargic, still recovering from a horrendous knee injury and a broken hand. This was not the Sergio who had gone to war with Williams, or dismantled Pavlik, or obliterated Williams in a rematch or schooled Junior, at the time the 2nd best MW on the planet.
If a 60% fit and ready version of Sergio who stepped into the ring against Chavez turns up, he beats GGG, with movement, speed of hand and foot, reflexes and something everyone forgets, power, legit, elite, 160lb power. GGG has never been hit by a guy who hits as hard as Sergio, he has never faced anyone who has (maybe had?) the reflexes of a prime Sergio or the handspeed.
I like GGG, he has great power, good footwork and decent technique but the guy is being overrated to hell. Who has he fought apart from Macklin? And now with the curtis fight he is taking 10 steps back. GGG needs to fight someone like Murray to legitimise his claim for a fight with Martinez and I haven't seen anything in GGG that says Martinez at 60% can't beat him.
In all honesty, Murray has a better claim at a rematch then GGG does at even stepping in the ring with Martinez. If GGG is to fight any one of either Barker/Murray/N'Dam/Rubio next year then I'll start calling for a Martinez fight but if he keeps picking on guys like Curtis then he can keep fighting bums for all I care.Comment
